The mission of the Financial and Retail Services (FRS) Engineering team is to ensure fast, reliable, and secure financial transactions and support - RedCard enrollments, GiftCard purchases, and guest support. We enable billions of GiftCard and RedCard transactions each year. We build applications to support millions of guests and team members with their critical issues from our Service Centers around the world.

As a Senior Engineer on the Case & Knowledge team, you will provide tools and technology to our Service Center agents to ensure that they're able to efficiently handle millions of yearly interactions with guests, team members, vendors, and partners. The products we build positively impact the funding of Service Center operations and help drive cost reduction through operational efficiency gains. You will strive to create frictionless tools that create joyful service interactions between agents and (guests/team members/partners).

This team maintain the customer relationship management platform used at Target. Cases document the service experience of the Guest, Stores, and internal team members; while sourcing, aggregating, and publishing gathered data so that its available for actionable business intelligence. Our knowledge base enables self-service help for guests on Target.com. The CRM product provides service for phone, chat, email, and social channels; while containing multiple integrations with other Target systems to provide Service Center agents a 360-degree view of both guests and business partners.

Our engineering teams are empowered to select the appropriate technology for the problem they are trying to solve. Common technologies include:
  • Code Pipelines like Jenkins, Chef
  • Languages and Frameworks like Spring Boot, Java, Kotlin, Micronaut, Python, and Salesforce
  • Front end technologies like React and GraphQL
  • Databases like Postgres, MongoDB, Oracle, Elastic Search
  • Metrics visualizations like Grafana
  • Log aggregation with Logstash and Kibana

About you:
  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages
  • Delivers high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables with broad impact (high throughput and low latency)
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and can help the team in triaging operational issues
  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
