Description:
As a Lead UX Researcher, you'll plan, lead, and socialize high-profile research projects to drive key strategic decisions across Target's digital business. You'll report to the UX Research Director, and partner with a team of UX Researchers, and closely collaborate with a multi-disciplinary UX team, including: UX Designers, Content Designers, and Accessibility Consultants.

In this role, you'll conduct research at all stages in the research lifecycle - exploratory, formative, evaluative - and work across Target's suite of digital tools, including the Target website, Target app, internal tools, and in-store digital tools. This includes the creation of entirely new experiences, as well as improvement of existing ones.

You will dig into complex, ambiguous, human-centered problems. You will design and conduct guest & Team Member research, identifying the problem from the user's point of view, developing generating insights, and highlighting opportunity areas. You'll be a strategic-leader and thought-partner for UX Directors, UX Senior Managers, and digital leaders, helping them shape and execute long-range research learning plans and road maps. You'll bring empathy and guest insights to every business problem. You'll identify research opportunities as well as shape research requests from partners. You'll uphold our research ethics and actively find ways to strengthen & scale our processes. You value close collaboration with UX Designers and Product Owners at all stages of the research process. You believe that collaboration isn't a nice-to-have, but a vital component of making research both meaningful and actionable.

You'll partner with and mentor other UX Researchers on research methods, execution, and project management. You'll be a part of a thoughtful, high-performing UX Research team and identify and lead initiatives to strengthen our impact. You'll build artifacts, educational tools and processes that help build and evangelize UX Research within the larger organization.

We'll support you along the way with robust onboarding, as well as personal and career development, to help you grow as a strong Lead UX Researcher. The exciting part of retail? It's always changing!

About you:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing UX design research for digital product teams or 5 years of relevant consumer or academic research experience
  • Research skills to uncover and investigate unmet needs
  • Expert skills in qualitative research methods, skilled and experienced moderator
  • Experience designing and summarizing surveys and results
  • Synthesis expertise - ability to translate research findings into compelling insights that motivate action
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills
  • Open to & excited about collaborating with partners throughout all stages of the research process
  • Proven ability to successfully lead large-scale research projects involving multiple stakeholders, experience building long-range research learning plans & roadmaps
  • Comfortable within ambiguity with and the ability to prioritize; demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects (both small and large) and adjust to changing priorities
  • Strong project management skills - experience managing multiple projects at various stages in the project life cycle

This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is ($97,600) to ($175,700).
