Job Description Job Summary:
Maintains, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on SMSC-owned vehicles, including heavy equipment and small engines, to ensure safety and dependability. Fabricates materials for special projects. Ensures all vehicles and equipment are mechanically sound.   Duty/Task Description:
Perform skilled diagnostic and repair procedures on light, medium, and heavy duty trucks, vans, buses, small engine, and heavy equipment owned by the SMSC. Performs preventive maintenance on SMSC-owned vehicles, heavy-equipment, and small engine equipment. Completes Repair Orders ensuring that work performed and parts used are documented. Maintains shop areas and tools/diagnostic equipment to ensure safety and cleanliness. Designs and fabricates tools and equipment. Occasional tasks.   OCCASIONAL TASKS:
Orders parts and supplies from authorized dealers. May direct the activities of the Fleet Cleaning Specialist. Plows snow. Driving is an essential function of this job. In the event driving is required, employees must adhere to the driving standards determined by the SMSC. Reflects MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE required in order to meet the expectations of this job. Technical school graduate with an automotive or truck degree, or 4 years of experience in an automotive or truck repair facility. Specialized knowledge of various types of vehicle diagnostic testing and programming tools used in vehicle repair and maintenance. High School graduate or GED. Valid driver's license required with good driving record. Class A driver's license and current DOT card may be required. Industrial Truck Driving permit may be required (forklift). Basic computer skills. Knowledge of small engine repair.
