Inserting Manager

 

 Summary: 

Provides production planning, work direction and leadership to all areas of the Inserting department and works cooperatively with all areas of Document Services production and production planning functions

 

Essential Position Responsibilities:
 

U

  • Responsible to create and manage department budget to planned level
  • Understand postal Requirements and ensure they are met
  • Develop business relationships with key Postal employees
  • Keep current on all areas within the USPS that may impact our business and clients
  • Implement postal programs that are in the best interest of DRC and it's clients
  • Manage equipment preventative maintenance and develop business relationships with equipment vendors
  • Research and recommend equipment upgrades to improve quality, capacity and efficiency 
  • Collect and analyze data to assist in making process improvements and improving deliverable commitments to clients
  • Provide leadership in recruiting, hiring, and training of all full time and temporary employees. Develop staff to ensure ongoing pipeline of future leaders
  • Manage ISO documentation and ensure that the staff is trained and following established procedures and processes
  • Manage the successful development and implementation of PACE as it relates to Inserting/Warehouse activities
  • Manage Inventory accuracy
  • Provide work direction and training to Inserting employees as necessary
  • Ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality
  • Develop meaningful preventive action on all quality non-conformities
  • Provide leadership in recruiting and training all full time and temporary employees. In effect, qualify them for the positions they will occupy.
  • Manage for productivity and waste reduction.
  • Establish and post manning and shift hour assignments based on upcoming workload.
  • Manage the Inserting area to result in a safe work environment for our employees. Monitor conformance to all safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly work area and manage the flow of incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Support, promote and participate in 5S / Continuous Improvement efforts.
  • Follow and enforce defined processes and procedures.

    Other Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in inserting and mailing operations
  • Must be technically competent in the Inserting field
  • Must demonstrate expertise and keep current with all postal regulations
  • Effective communications and human relations skills.
  •  

     Essential Job Requirements:

  • Report to work promptly when scheduled
  • Be able to work under supervision and accept feedback 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Relate effectively and work respectfully with diverse work groups
  • Ability to consistently perform well during times of increased work load
  • Set and meet deadlines
  • Manage multiple job functions simultaneously

    Physical Requirements: This job requires the ability to hear clearly at conversation levels, the ability to and have clear close, peripheral and distance vision. The essential duties must be performed satisfactorily in order for an individual to successfully fulfill the requirements of this position.

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hour periods of time
  • Ability to look at a computer monitor, utilize a keyboard and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as necessary
