PRODUCT MANAGER - INDIVIDUAL & FAMILY PLANS (IFP)

Work Location: In the office, work-at-home or hybrid (in the office 3 or more days per week)

Position Description

This position is responsible for planning and oversight of a line of UCare products throughout the product lifecycle. Analyze and manage business opportunities and oversee performance and growth of existing product lines.

• Analyze market and understand segments, prospects and current members. Articulate strategic direction for the product line, based on customer needs and business goals, including potential changes to service areas and new product introductions.

• Develop, implement, and modify as necessary annual and multi-year plan(s) for assigned products based on solid understanding of current product assets, functional capabilities, competitors' market position, national trends, political climate, strengths/weaknesses, and customer needs.

• Design new product offerings and enhance benefits and other features of current products, based on customer feedback, sales input, industry trends, regulatory requirements, and research and actuarial analysis.

• Lead a cross-functional product team(s) to guide development and achievement of product plans, track product performance and respond to emerging issues.

• Understand health care insurance marketplace and state/federal regulatory reforms in order to identify opportunities for competitive product development and improvement. In collaboration with Marketing, Sales and Business Development staff, complete ongoing environmental assessments to prepare the organization for future competitive, marketplace and regulatory changes

• Serve as subject matter expert and advocate for assigned products.

• Participate in relevant committees and workgroups at UCare, including those led by senior leaders. Provide market and analytic support to evaluate and recommend new product and business opportunities.

• Provide strategic consultation to other functional areas and committees on product performance, member/provider experience, and other improvement opportunities at UCare.

• Collaborate with colleagues across the company on new product implementation, annual readiness, and other product-related activities.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, health care/public administration, or related field, Masters level degree preferred. Demonstrated work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Experience

Five years of experience in a health plan or health care organization with responsibility for product performance. Proven ability to work in a matrix environment and possess the ability to lead a cross-departmental team. Working knowledge of health plan functions, including: operations, marketing/sales, compliance, information systems, data analysis and clinical.

Preferred Experience

Product management or business development experience in the health plan industry. Experience in new product development and launch. Product performance responsibility in a matrix environment. Knowledge of state, federal and commercial health care programs and products.
