From exploration to activation, you will accelerate and prove new concepts that differentiate the guest experience and generate new revenue streams. Whether exploring new business models designed to meet guest needs, engaging with start-ups with an aim on testing and accelerating their products or commercializing and integrating new growth back into the organization...you will ensure success by rapidly applying your expertise and fostering an entrepreneurial culture while leveraging the benefit of a large organization's knowledge and resources.

As a New Ventures - Lead Strategist, you will work in cross-functional project teams (e.g., UX, researchers, engineers, concept developers) to build the infrastructure and develop new growth opportunities in a systematic and repeatable way. This could include (but is not limited to):
  • Leverage competitor, industry, and consumer behaviors to understand and articulate the existing landscape, competitive strategies/benchmarking, emerging trends (i.e., where the future of retail going), etc.
  • Create structured approach and frameworks to identify opportunities, critical hypotheses, and riskiest assumptions. Define learning objectives and identify metrics to vet for desirability, viability, and feasibility through experimentation
  • Conduct financial and business analysis, make sense of data gathered from disparate data sources as well as proxies from other industries/products. Leverage qualitative and quantitative data from experiments to synthesize key learnings.
  • Create business cases and/or narratives for C-suite, board level presentations, and executive briefings
  • Establish appropriate tools, forums, and processes to engage leaders, share progress, and facilitate decisions on new growth opportunities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across the enterprise and effectively influence without authority to drive business decisions and advance long-term transformation efforts

About You:
  • 4-year college degree, MBA preferred
  • Advanced degree or 6+ years practical experience, including strategic operations, corporate strategy, management consulting, design strategy
  • Strong problem solving skills. Ability to break down problems into fundamental parts, identify root causes, synthesize findings, and make informed decisions
  • Strong project management, cross-functional leadership, and collaboration skills with an ability to work effectively with people at all levels and across pyramids
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to tell structured and logical stories
  • Thrives in creating structure in ambiguous or evolving changes; able to adapt and evolve in changing environments

A role in Finance Capabilities means partnering with Finance, technology, data science and analytics leaders to co-create solutions that maximize business value and enable key strategies that are critical to the enterprise and for the experiences we create for our guests. With broad understanding of processes across Finance, you will set the vision, align on the roadmap and mobilize teams to deliver needed outcomes. Given most strategies have a Finance impact, you will also serve as a trusted resource to guide other enterprise partners in their solutions to ensure the success and integrity of end-to-end deliverables.

As the Director of Process Excellence and Operations, you will lead the strategy, program management, and governance of process improvement opportunities across Finance and the effective operations and administration of key Finance systems. You will direct and provide partnership across the Finance technology portfolio where process improvement and cross-product collaboration is needed. Additional responsibilities of this role include playing a key leader role in the establishment and communication of the strategic themes or initiatives that drive the investments and strategy for Finance Capabilities. Lead a programmatic effort across Finance Capabilities to develop the critical process excellence competencies and proficiencies needed to drive value through all initiatives across the Finance portfolio.

Create the strategic approach for leveraging the process excellence skillsets across the Finance Capabilities portfolio to maximize value delivered through process improvement and efficiency efforts.

Structure and drive a Finance-wide effort to establish standards in measuring operational efficiency and goal setting to drive continuous improvement in all recurring processes, including the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and measurements for Finance. Identify and prioritize the greatest opportunities for process improvement efforts, develop a portfolio approach to solving, managing risks and implementing mitigation activities. Manage a diverse team requiring an environment of trust, innovation, accountability, open communication, and personal development. Ensure that each team member has the support and training they need to maximize their performance. Prioritize the highest value-added work, while creating an atmosphere of empowerment. Coordinate appropriate development plans for each team member and focus on engagement of team to ensure high level of performance.

About you:
  • Undergraduate Degree - preferably in Information Technology, Accounting, Finance or Business related area
  • 10+ years of retail experience or equivalent domain experience and minimum of 5 years of experience leading process improvement or business transformation efforts leveraging and adapting standard process and problem-solving tools to drive value (e.g., Lean SixSigma)
  • Strong operational and functional understanding of business capabilities across Target or a technology/Finance organization
  • Effective at cross-functional collaboration, superior consulting, interpersonal, and facilitation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong team leadership skills with proven ability to empower, influence and align teams
  • Expert problem-solving, critical thinking, and data-driven decision making skills
  • Strategic mindset and bias for action with strong ability for strategic planning, defining OKRs and driving business outcomes
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management and communication skills and ability to influence at all levels of management
  • Experience with SAP or similar general ledger system is preferred
  • Portfolio management experience is preferred

Job Description:

As a Senior Strategy Implementation Analyst, you will work alongside team members from the Strategy Implementation team and core business functions to bring Target's enterprise strategies to life. You will do this by working with a team to bring data-driven problem solving approaches and iterative capability building to address Target's most meaningful enterprise challenges and drive sustained profitable growth. This includes analyzing root causes of gaps, providing key financial and operational data and insights, and developing project plans to bring new strategies to life. Additionally, you'll analyze project metrics, create reports that measure process performance against project initiatives and goals, and provide leaders with status updates/feedback. You'll aggregate inputs of core strategies and utilize problem-solving efforts on key projects to improve quality of the overall outcome. In addition, you will coordinate, support and lead both small and large working sessions with business stakeholders that drive to conclusions, agreement and outcomes. Working with the Director and/or Principal of Strategy Implementation, you'll execute detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports.

About You:

  • 4-year or advanced degree in a relevant field
  • 3+ years of practical experience, including strategic operations consulting roles, retail, supply chain, or other applicable industry experience


  • Strong problem solving skills. Ability to break down problems into fundamental parts, identify root causes, synthesize findings, and make informed decisions
  • Experience with different types of analysis (e.g., financial analysis and modeling, process analysis, statistical measurement analysis)
  • Strong written, oral, communication, networking, and presentation skills required (including comfort with Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Competent in project management; has the ability to manage tight deadlines
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills


  • Ability to take risks, learn quickly, challenge the status quo, and work under ambiguous circumstances

This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is ($81,3000 to $146,400).
