Job Summary:

Responsible for management of all operations and day to day activities with the wastewater utility, including scheduling, staffing, training, directing operations, and maintenance.

Budget/Asset Responsibilities:

Assists SMSC Director of Public Works with planning and preparation of the annual budget.

Job Duties:

1. Plans, coordinates, and participates in all services and operations of the water reclamation treatment process. Prepares reporting and analysis on operations and activities. Coordinates assigned activities with other enterprises, outside agencies, and the general public.
2. Manages staff and daily operations including scheduling, training, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Provides technical guidance to plant operators.
3. Ensures that wastewater treatment facility meets regulatory compliance standards and requirements. May prepare reports concerned with chemical and bacteriological analyses of water for administrative purposes and governmental agencies.
4. Completes occasional walk through of the plant to ensure all stations are functioning properly, specifies and reviews work procedures, provides instructions and training to maintain efficiency, ensures safety and technical adequacies are carried out.
5. Works with vendors regarding the requisitions of supplies and materials.

  Days Monday - Friday Hiring Rate or Hiring Range Salary Based on Qualifications Requirements

1. Minimum of ten years experience in the operation and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems and/or education in engineering, sciences, environmental science or related field.
2. Minimum two years supervisory/management experience.
3. Valid Class A Minnesota Wastewater Treatment license required.
4. Valid Type IV Minnesota Bio-solids license required.    
5. Proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheets, database, electronic mail software. Valid driver's license may be required with a good driving record.
6. Industrial Truck Driving permit may be required (forklift).
7. Must be abel to lift 75 lbs.
8. On feet or standing 100% of time.
9. Exposure to fumes / odors.

10. Exposure to climate conditions:  Heat temperatures may exceed 100 degrees. May work in sub-zero conditions in winter or excessive heat in the summer in a non-climate controlled environment.
