Description:
About us:
Target is an iconic brand, a Fortune 50 company and one of America's leading retailers.
Right on pace with Target's distinctive retail brand, in a role in Target Finance and Accounting, you will be a truly collaborative partner with a seat at the table. You'll bring your unique point of view, experience and passion for the work to your team and internal clients. In Finance, you'll be an integral voice in discussions that lead to Target's unparalleled shopping experience. Your analysis and recommendations will be directly applied to critical business decisions, from sales to merchandising and beyond. Within Finance, you'll enjoy the interesting challenges of the competitive retail space. You'll see your contributions come to life in virtually every area of this dynamic enterprise. And you'll grow and be challenged in your career while having a healthy balance with life outside of work.
Working within Tax, your mission will be to drive value-added work and support our core retail business goals. Our tax team focuses on all aspects of tax reporting including enhancing productivity and efficiency of core compliance through process and technology, monitoring tax risk and opportunities across all tax disciplines, engaging and educating Finance and the broader organization regarding tax considerations, and prioritizing team resources to support key work streams.
As a Senior Tax Specialist in Sales Tax, you will be responsible for the preparing, filing, and payment of sales tax and other indirect tax returns. You will leverage your exceptional organizational skills, critical thinking, problem solving, and business process knowledge to ensure we timely, efficiently, and accurately meet our tax compliance obligations. You will navigate numerous systems to gather tax data, request check and electronic payments, and maintain detailed tax records which will be used to support tax audits and appeals. In this role, you will support the Sales Tax team in reviewing and responding to mail and tax inquiries, and in pursuing information from taxing authorities. You will use your communication skills in both verbal and written correspondence when replying to notices from taxing authorities, vendor exemption certificate requests, and other tax related requests from vendor or business partners. You will also foster your personal development by remaining current on sales tax and indirect tax legislative and administrative changes applicable to your tax filings.
