PARALEGAL

Work Location: Work from home, standard or hybrid (in the office 3 or more days per week)

Position Description

This position will support and work closely with the UCare Attorneys on a broad range of corporate and general matters for the Company and its affiliates. Assist with providing legal and contractual support for all departments including assisting with drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and maintaining a broad range of agreements and related documents, including vendor, supplier, non-disclosure, license, software, business associate, professional services, and other service agreements. Revise and maintain legal forms and templates and complete process improvement initiatives for scalability. Responsible for responding to internal and external requests for information. Responsibilities cover diverse subject-matter and requires significant cross-collaboration with internal business areas to assist with applicable legal needs.

• Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with key business stakeholders to ensure adequate legal support and reinforce UCare Legal's commitment to superior customer service including its commitment to the Legal Department Principles.

• Serve as key legal support and point of contact to multiple business teams including Provider Relations, Quality, Human Resources, Marketing and Communications, Compliance, Privacy, Sales and Customer Service.

• Conduct initial legal review of certain contracts including confidentiality, services, consulting, technology (software, hardware, API etc.), printing, leases, and provider programs and identify issues for attorney review or advice.

• Draft forms and templates according to UCare's standard contractual terms, if applicable.

• Manage and maintain UCare Legal forms, templates, work instructions, policies and procedures and work with Attorneys to review annually and implement necessary changes or revisions.

• Conduct legal and regulatory research as directed by UCare Attorneys and provide verbal/written reports on such research.

• Assist Attorneys in all aspects of their legal practice including drafting communications and correspondence and scheduling meetings with external parties and internal business partners.

• Assist Attorneys with litigation matters by collaborating with outside counsel and leading internal discovery efforts with an emphasis on preserving necessary data/documents.

• Responsible for taking the lead on projects and tasks as assigned by a UCare Attorney and ensuring all timelines and deadlines are met.

• Process third party requests for information and documentation.

• Attend business partner meetings as requested by Attorney; accepts and timely returns business partner calls, email, and correspondence and relays information approved by Attorney.

• Provide backup support to UCare's Contract Administrator

• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree: demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Experience

Five years of experience with health plan provider data. Microsoft Office proficient with intermediate Excel and/or database experience.

Preferred Experience

Prior Medicaid/Medicare/Commercial insurance regulatory experience. Experience with auditing, analyzing, and improving business processes. Proficient with Microsoft SQL. Experience with Amisys and/or HealthRules. Experience with Streamline Verify.
