Test Instrumentation Engineer
Develops and maintains test hardware and software to support test needs. Under general direction purchases and maintains test instrumentation, data acquisition, and other electronic test hardware. Ensures test hardware is well maintained and calibration is kept current. Provides training and general support to staff on instrumentation practices, troubleshooting , and advanced data acquisition. Responsible for development, programming, and maintenance of proprietary test controllers. Documents and creates standard work for test systems. Trains others in use of test systems and instrumentation principles.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist, train, and direct other staff in instrumentation practices, advanced data acquisition techniques and the operation of data acquisition equipment
Specify, design, construct, install, integrate, troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation, hardware, software, and data acquisition systems.
Specify, plan, and perform periodic maintenance, repairs and calibration of test equipment.
Research, develop, and implement advances in productivity, efficiency, cost reduction, and technology.
Plan, setup, and perform Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testing of components and systems utilizing NI hardware, VeriStand and TestStand.
Execute and document test requests. Gather data on performance of prototype and production products under prescribed field and laboratory environments. Report and document results.
Author and review test procedures that document and standardize work. Train others in use as required.
Effectively communicate and support multi-disciplinary team members including: engineering, sales, marketing, customer service, production, information services and network administrators, vendors and end users as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Provides on-site technical support and effectively communicates to engineering personnel to ensure test systems productivity to meet division goals and timelines of project schedules
Works efficiently with minimal supervision. Performs work with a high degree of accuracy, quality and exercises prudent judgment. Leads others by example.

Must have a minimum of:
4 year B.S. degree in a related technical field and 1-3 years of direct technical test experience OR,
2 year technical degree and 5+ years of direct technical test experience
Required skills and experience: Knowledge and experience with LabVIEW and National Instruments Hardware. Experience with data acquisition hardware. Experience specifying, designing, developing, and purchasing test systems, instrumentation and hardware. Experience with of a variety of electronics and test equipment, test methods, and procedures. Advanced understanding of instrumentation practices. Experience calibrating and repairing test systems. Ability to solder including through hole circuit boards.
Preferred experience or willing to learn: LabVIEW CLD or CLAD certification with experience with RT and FPGA programming. Experience with object oriented and text based programming such as C, C++, and graphical programming such as LabVIEW and Ladder Logic. Ability to troubleshoot circuit boards. Experience with an Oscilloscope. Familiarity with NI cDaq, NI cRio, and HBM eDaq or other data acquisition systems. Experience with calibration management tracking software.
