The Student Accessibility & Accommodations office at St. Catherine University invites applications for a full-time Access Consultant position.

The Student Accessibility & Accommodations office's mission is to advance access for the whole student. Services are provided to all students, collaborating with them to identify learning solutions that accommodate diverse learning styles, and partnering with faculty to address learning challenges so students have access to resources that facilitate their success. The Access Consultant offers academic accommodations and academic support for students with disabilities and provides consultation, training and support for faculty and staff. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide individualized support to students through one on one meetings to identify and manage barriers to learning.
  • Develop appropriate academic accommodation letters for students based on their educational history and pertinent documentation.
  • Consult with faculty regarding the accommodation needs of students, and work to coordinate, plan and enact the process necessary to provide access.
  • Work in concert with the Student Accessibility & Accommodations team to plan, logistically Coordinate and disseminate accommodation needs for students, including:
    • Provide direction to the Tech Lab student employees on textbook conversion needs
    • Assist the Tech Lab with text conversion work
    • Provide the Accommodations Assistant with the details necessary to coordinate services
    • Outreach to vendors (e.g., interpreters, transcribing services, Braille providers, etc.) to manage accommodation provision
    • Work with the Testing Specialist to schedule and proctor testing accommodation


  • Schedule and deliver training and development sessions on accessibility, universal design, and other topics to the university community.
  • Keep abreast of changes in ADA requirements and disability case law

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field.
  • Experience working with secondary and/or post-secondary adults.
  • Knowledge of federal law as it pertains to individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience working with a variety of students of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology related to accommodations for students with disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Education, Rehabilitation Counseling or related field.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology related to accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Conversational American Sign Language ( ASL ).
