We have an opening for a Strategic Planning Engineer in Fergus Falls, MN.

This position will be faced with solving challenges across the Midwest associated with the changing resource mix across the regional transmission system that includes consideration of less baseload coal generation, more intermittent wind and solar generation, increased customer electrification and the deployment of battery storage.

The successful applicant will conduct a variety of transmission studies evaluating a variety of future scenarios to ensure Otter Tail Power Company’s transmission system, as part of the regional transmission system in the Midwest, continues to provide reliable, safe and affordable energy to customers across the region.

The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis in power, or comparable work experience in transmission planning.  Additional qualifications required for the Strategic Planning Engineer position include: (1) at least five years of industry experience, (2) familiarity with software programs to simulate system performance and energy market characteristics, and (3) knowledge of regional tariffs, business practice manuals and study procedures.  Applicants who do not possess the experience qualifications for the Strategic Planning Engineer position will be considered for an entry level engineering position within the same department.
