The Southern US Quality Manager assures consistent quality of production by developing and implementing an effective Quality Management System (QMS). The position is accountable for quality assurance processes designed to meet or exceed customer requirements while providing customer support through management of the product warranty process. The position is also accountable for continuous improvement programs designed to minimize waste and maximize product yield.
The Southern US Regional Quality Manager reports directly to the Southern US Operations Director and is a member of the Southern US Regional Leadership Team responsible for operational performance as well as long-range and short-range strategic plans.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains a safe and healthy workplace for employees in compliance with all applicable laws, and regulations. Promotes a positive attitude towards safety. Adheres to the requirements of safety policies as well as safety rules, instructions and procedures.
Leads the Regional Quality Council assuring that all facilities are compliant to the latest quality processes, actively participating in continuous improvement of quality programs, and align quality priorities and expectations between Toro and each operation.
Maintains monthly Quality Scorecards and reports; presents findings to Management teams.
Provides technical project leadership, aligning cross functional resources, on complex quality issues, as needed.
Develop and implement a QMS system aligned with the Toro standard QMS and aligned with ISO 9001 across four manufacturing operations. Systems include, but are not limited to calibration, lot traceability, and management of nonconforming materials.
Assure each operation has fundamental quality systems including, but not limited to, an effective Material Review Board (MRB), Layered Process Audits, and incoming inspection.
Conduct internal QMS audits across the manufacturing locations.
Accountable for developing and implementing programs and inspection systems across four manufacturing locations including irrigation extrusion and component molding operations to assure the highest product quality standards are met.
Perform analysis of field samples and identifies root causes for quality discrepancies. Investigates and manages warranty process.
Oversees an effective Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) program assuring a rapid resolution and prevention of future field failures using root Cause Counter Measure (RCCM) Methods.
Creates and manages a comprehensive quality plan, incorporating all specifications, methods, fixtures, documentation standards and reference samples. Accountable for effective test methods.
Provides both technical and project leadership on operational scrap reduction initiatives. Oversees quality and scrap databases providing analysis on non-conformances, both external (complaints) and internal (scrap)
Provide technical support and training in latest quality techniques and philosophies to improve process control and nonconformance prevention.
Assists Engineering and Operations Departments in establishing or changing methods, techniques or materials for the control of quality, improvements of manufactured products and improvements to overall operational performance
Assure effective supplier quality system including but not limited to incoming inspections and supplier quality certification.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required with and advanced degree preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience working within an effective Quality function with a demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with Quality Management Systems is required. Experience in leading within a Lean and/or Six Sigma environment is strongly preferred.
Excited to be hands on, working with the Quality and Production teams on continuous improvement, process optimization, and quality improvement projects. Driven with a high internal standard for personal and facility performance holding self and others to a high standard of performance
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work closely with subordinates, peers and higher levels of management. Effective in working within a highly matrixed organization.
Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability works well with ambiguity. Takes initiative to make things better.
Ability to analyze data and develop procedures, quality assurance systems using both ERP and stand-alone engineering tools such as Minitab, Excel, and PDM Windchill.
The position involves both desk and factory floor work. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time in a non-climate controlled environment. with occasional lifting up to 40lbs.
Ability to travel up to 25% to remote facilities and the occasional need to travel to agricultural sites and navigate agricultural fields in all weather conditions.
