Pretrial Supervision Case Manager

Job Summary:

JusticePoint, Inc. is a private non-profit agency with a commitment to social justice. The target population includes adults who may have serious and persistent mental health and/or substance abuse disorders, may be considered indigent, may be at risk for re-arrest and/or missing court, and are involved in the criminal justice system. Case Managers will provide service at various points of contact including the courts, county jail, and the community. The Case Manager will report to the Pretrial Supervision Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or related human service field required
  • Applied knowledge and understanding of mental illness, substance abuse, and the effects of poverty on various socioeconomic social groups
  • Must obtain Certified Pretrial Services Professional certification within six months of employment
  • Working knowledge of community mental health and AODA treatment resources
  • Prior experience in case management in a human services program preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of the goals and objectives of pretrial services and the court rules governing pretrial supervision
  • Computer literacy including working knowledge and experience of Windows and word processing, as well as data entry experience (Microsoft Word & Access)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Experience in motivational interviewing techniques preferred
  • High level of skill in organization and attention to detail and accuracy as well as ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • The ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with individuals from diverse economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Fluency in Spanish/Somali/Hmong, spoken and written, is a definite asset
  • Pre-employment background check as conducted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is required
  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license and automobile with insurance required

Tasks:

  • Monitor, supervise and assist individuals under pretrial supervision to have a successful pretrial period of supervision including identifying and addressing barriers to attending court hearings
  • Developing knowledge and collaborative relationships with various community service providers
  • Establishing plans to meet client needs and monitor participation in programming to address identified needs
  • Preparing written reports notifying the court of the client’s status
  • Maintaining accurate and verified records in the client database that document and support activity necessary to meet the program outcomes
  • Conducting field visits at the person’s home, employer, or other service providers as needed
  • Perform all duties necessary for GPS & Remote Breath supervision
