A role with the Design team means a big opportunity to start from scratch and create something truly original. Are you a design expert who can support your business by staying one step ahead of industry trends, new materials and techniques? Can you demonstrate the utmost attention to detail and create products that are unprecedented in the marketplace for their design and quality for the price? Then you'll have success on our Design team who owns the design and development of all Target-owned brands, from apparel to home goods, and beauty to essentials. In close partnership with our merchant and sourcing counterparts, you'll drive brand cohesion and continuity, ensuring that our products meet the merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction.

As an Associate Textile Designer, you will be responsible for supporting the design and development of trend right prints and patterns that achieve overall design, brand and assortment strategy for a Target business. Integrating both hand and computer skills, you will create original artwork exclusive to Target that achieves the overall creative objective. In collaboration with both internal and external partners, you will exchange ideas, leverage expertise, help streamline the textile design process, and ensure products are executable and meet set price points while identifying and resolving any issues that may occur. You will stay abreast of benchmarks and trends through regular research and sources of inspiration to identify recurring patterns and translate inspiration into a saleable trend. In addition, you will actively participate in supporting the presenting of art trend and concepts to Design and Merchant partners. Critical to the role is staying current with the latest style, graphic, industry, and technology trends and demonstrate application to projects. Ability to flex artistic styles depending on brand DNA a plus.

About you:
  • Four-year degree in Textile Design, Fine Art or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of textile design experience and solid proficiency/expertise in a specific category
  • Experience in Photoshop/Illustrator, InDesign, and familiarity in Nedgraphics and other design software
  • Collaborates with the creative teams on concepts and layout revisions.
  • Supports the execution of projects by designing and executing under the guidance of the Sr. Textile Designer & Director
  • Supports Sr. Textile Designer on designing into supporting print stories that relate to macro themes.
  • Stays current with latest industry, style and graphic trends, including system technology.
  • Strong color sense and pattern merchandising ability
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload with multiple deadlines
  • Works well under pressure and deadlines
  • Current and evolving sense of design
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to be an effective team player and manage relationships with team and key business partners
