The Doctor of Physical Therapy ( DPT ) Program in the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health at St. Catherine University invites applicants for an Assistant Director of Clinical Education ( ADCE ). This is a full-time, 9 over 12 month, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The DPT Program utilizes an innovative curriculum that integrates basic and clinical sciences and incorporates traditional as well as case-based learning strategies, including tutorials. The physical therapist education program at St. Catherine University began in 1991 and has enrolled Doctor of Physical Therapy students since 2003. The mission of the DPT Program is to educate students to lead and influence within the physical therapy profession. The Assistant Director of Clinical Education ( ADCE ) works with the Director of Clinical Education in the placement of 102 DPT students each year into full-time clinical education experiences.

Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate four full-time clinical education courses in the DPT Program, as well as teach didactic courses in the program.
  • Define, implement and refine a scholarly agenda, with the expectation that this person serve as a research advisor to groups of DPT students each year.
  • Develop service in a wide array of areas, including service to the DPT Program, the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health, the University, as well as the physical therapy profession.
  • Communicate respectfully and build relationships of trust with people of all cultures and abilities, affirming the worth and preserving the dignity of individuals, families, and communities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate degree (Doctor of Physical Therapy degree or academic doctorate)
  • Three years of clinical practice as a Physical Therapist
  • Two years of experience as a clinical instructor or site coordinator of clinical education OR two years of experience teaching in a physical therapy education program.
  • Eligible for Physical Therapy licensure in Minnesota

Preferred Qualifications
  • Academic doctoral degree (i.e. PhD, DSc, EdD) earned or in process
  • Recognized clinical specialist in physical therapy or a related field
  • Prior experience in academic teaching
  • Prior experience as a clinical instructor and/or coordinating clinical education for physical therapy students
  • APTA CI credentialed (Level 1)
  • Clinical experience in acute care, health & wellness, and/or pediatrics
