A role with our New Stores and Properties Segmentation team means working on our new stores in vibrant urban environments or in close proximity to university campuses, developing new market entries to bring the Target experience to new guests or supporting prioritized Guest segments and communities around the country. You will help identify, influence and implement efforts to better meet and exceed the needs and expectations of our Guests.

PRIMARY FUNCTION/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a New Stores Lead - New Store Development, you will play a key role in delivering against our 'Stores as Hubs' and 'Invest in Digital and Physical Shopping Experiences' Strategic Pillars. You will be responsible for establishing the Strategy and Priorities for each new store given the guest, neighborhood, and competitive landscape at each site. Using a mixture of data and insights from open stores, market research and intelligence about the guest, local competition, and broader network considerations, you will create new store strategies to be used for Capital Forum approval, Store Design, Store Operations, Supply Chain, Merchandising and various other teams who bring these stores to life. You will create various pieces of content for the communication of these strategies to a multitude of audiences; including Power Point presentations to be used for Leadership Team approval at Capital Forum, to detailed Smartsheet based models for our execution and operations partners.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for the Project Management of all sites in your territories from the time a site is identified as a potential store thru Capital Forum Approval and continue in a consult role on the development of the Store and Assortment plans. You will influence key business partners and drive accountability across a large Cross Functional Team (CFT) with partners from Real Estate, Market Research, Capital Finance, Construction, Store Design, Store Operations, Transportation, Supply Chain, Merchandising, and many others. You will be accountable to bringing forward new store projects that deliver strong financial returns, while keeping the guest and communities we are serving at the center.

About you:
  • Bachelors Degree, BA/BS
  • 7+ years of retail or related business experience
  • Strong strategic, analytical, financial, and operational skills
  • Flexible, resilient and comfortable working in "grey areas" that are constantly changing
  • Demonstrated history of managing a diverse cross functional team
  • Previous experience in Project Management and/or Merchandising preferred
  • Proven track record of creating recommendations using a combination of art and science
  • Ability to manage projects, set timelines and meet deliverables
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Strong collaboration skills and an ability to influence without authority
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%
