Full-time Director of Communications and Public Affairs position in the DFL Caucus of the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Responsible for coordinating communication services for the DFL Caucus Members in addition to supervising and managing the work of the DFL media and graphics staff.  Promotes caucus agenda, develops overall media plan/strategy to implement agenda; maintains working relationship with other members and staff, including developing an internal communications system to outreach with caucus members and staff; and networks with other legislative media offices.  Represents the DFL Leadership at meetings with outside organizations and individuals, and media outlets including the Capitol press.  Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Knowledge of legislative and political process, government agencies and the overall political scene so as to accurately interpret and anticipate political developments that may affect the DFL caucus.  PC experience and knowledge of Word, Excel and/or other spreadsheet programs strongly desired.  Ability to supervise staff and to effectively manage department goals.  Frequent public contact; communications and human relations skills a must.  Long and irregular hours to be expected. Knowledgeable in the use of social media.
