Description:
About us:

Target is an iconic brand, a Fortune 50 company and one of America's leading retailers.

Target Global Supply Chain and Logistics is evolving at an incredible pace. We are constantly reimagining how we get the right product to the right guest even better, faster and more cost effectively than before. We are becoming more intelligent, automated and algorithmic in our decision-making, so that no matter how guests shop-in stores or on Target.com-we deliver the convenience and immediate gratification they demand and deserve. We are on a mission to win decisively over any competitor, with a seamless and superior guest service experience unlike any they can offer. Our teams work with the agility our mission requires, and we constantly come together to implement new system and business processes in record time. So we're looking for exceptional people who are proactive, creative, independent, innovative, risk-savvy and comfortable working in varying degrees of ambiguity. Are you a critical thinker who seeks the root cause and can analyze both qualitatively and quantitatively? Are you a creative problem-solver who simplifies problems, quickly identifies solutions, commits to a plan and then positively influences others to execute it? If so, you will have success on one of our dynamic teams.

Inventory Management (IM) is responsible for creating forecasts, designing inventory optimization strategies and leverage technology to ensure our inventory is available at the right time, in the right places and quantity to meet the needs of our guests, stores and operational goals. Super-powered first and foremost by our people, and supported by robust process and technology, we are a team of data-focused, curious minds who love to solve hard problems to enable a dynamic, fast paced Supply Chain network.

The Inventory Planning Control (IPC) team, is a pillar of IM, is specifically responsible for monitoring and operating Target's Inventory Planning and Control, systems. This team is responsible for the system that Inventory Analysts and Managers will use to get recommended order quantities, implement automatic ordering, decide how much inventory to buy, when to bring inventory into the target network, and where to position it. The IPC team innovates and continuously improves processes that result in sophisticated, intelligent and self-learning models. IPC is unique in that we are simultaneously developing the science of supply chain planning at Target and responsible for studying, designing, and building systems to suit Target's needs.

The goal of the IPC Positioning Operations Team is to deliver a superior internal Target experience by providing solutions to help resolve inventory management and supply chain operations frictions. As the Sr. Inventory Intelligence Manager, Supply Chain, you will be responsible for creating and levaraging projected future product movement plans to understand how a change to key inputs like forecast, presentation and leadtime, will impact how much & when product moves, as well as providing a fresh perpective on how to integrate those plans and data intelligence into positioning inventory within Target's network. In this role you will be responsible for an array of system processes supporting Middle Mile positioning and work in close partnership with other IPC product teams, Inventory Management, Transportation, and S&OP. To be successful, it will be critical that you are comfortable with ambiguity and utilize a test and learn mindset with other core GSCL teams to inform and develop our broader positioning roadmap. This role will also provide you with the opportunity to pioneer new capabilities before rolling to a broader audience to solidify systematic processes and objectives that will make a permanent mark on inventory management processes for many years to come.

About you:
  • Four year degree or equivalent experience in math, statistics, business, operations research, or supply chain and/or equivalent experience in an operations research, statistics or supply chain analysis/operations business environment.
  • Ability to create/change/execute SQL queries from analytic datasets and analyze results
  • Experience with inventory planning concepts - forecasting, planning, optimization, and logistics - gained through work experience
  • Experience and passion for using data to explain or solve complex business problems and influence invention of new systematic and operational processes
  • Experience utilizing problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly and concisely
  • Ability to adjust priorities to the ever changing needs of the business

Desired Requirements:
  • Experience in retail (stores or headquarters)
  • Experience as an analyst or manager in Inventory Management, Inventory Management Operations, Planning or similar
  • Proven experience achieving results by leading, partnering, and influencing others
  • Aptitude and familiarity with the design and use of complex logistics and/or reporting software systems
