We are searching for an innovative, deadline-driven mechatronics engineer to join our Process Engineering team. As mechatronics engineer your responsibilities will include supporting, improving and optimizing existing electrical and mechanical systems in a continuous plastics extrusion manufacturing process.

To be successful you should be able to work within demanding timeframes and develop original, practical solutions to problems. Outstanding candidates draw on a wide range of engineering principles and are not afraid to wander into unchartered territory.


As Mechatronics Engineer you will provide mechanical and electrical engineering support for plastics extrusion manufacturing processes, utilizing software, PLC’s, and automation. Ultimately, this position will provide the synergistic integration of mechanics, electronics, control theory, and computer science within a high speed manufacturing environment; the main objectives being to maintain, optimize, and improve manufacturing process efficiencies and product quality.


  • Designing, developing and enhancing electro-mechanical systems.

  • Supporting existing automated systems and the software to control them.

  • Identifying areas of weakness in the production line or finished products and making recommendations for improvement.

  • Understanding electromechanical problems and developing solutions that resolve them.

  • Travel up to 15%

  • Supports NPD in transitions

  • Conducts Process Validations and Equipment Qualifications

  • Leads Process Improvement / Optimization Initiatives

  • Participates or leads 5S activities

  • Participates or leads Kaizen events

  • Project Management

  • Provides support on industrial vision systems, motion control, and automation electronics

  • Troubleshoot and maintain both software and hardware of PLC’s and associated systems

  • Will adjust working hours and/or work extra hours to meet project deadlines

  • Support manufacturing

  • Train repair technicians


  • BS in mechatronics engineering or related field.

  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and creative thinking skills.

  • Ability to work in a team or alone.

  • Self-starter with a passion for engineering.

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strongly motivated and goal oriented

  • Working knowledge of electrical control systems (schematics, components, pneumatics, VFD drives, etc.)

  • 5 years’ experience PLC software and hardware

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting, analytical skills

  • 5 to 7 years relevant job experience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills in working with a variety of teams, suppliers, customers

  • Hands-on support
