JOB SUMMARY:
We are searching for an innovative, deadline-driven plastics extrusion manufacturing engineer to join our process engineering team. As process engineer your responsibilities will include supporting, improving and optimizing existing plastics extrusion manufacturing processes.
To be successful you should be able to work within demanding timeframes and develop original, practical solutions to problems. Outstanding candidates draw on a wide range of engineering principles and are not afraid to wander into unchartered territory.
MAJOR FUNCTION:
As a Manufacturing Engineer you will provide engineering support for plastics extrusion manufacturing processes. The main objectives being to maintain, optimize, and improve manufacturing process efficiencies and product quality.
PLASTICS EXTRUSION MANUFACTURING ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides manufacturing process design and process change investigation, evaluation, and implementation
Identifying areas of weakness in the production line or finished products and making recommendations for improvement
Supports extrusion tooling design, gages, machinery, etc
Travel up to 15%
Supports NPD in transitions
Conducts Process Validations and Equipment Qualifications
Leads Process Improvement / Optimization Initiatives
Participates or leads 5S activities
Participates or leads Kaizen events
Project Management
Trouble shoot extrusion issues through involvement in quality alerts, production reports, and downtime reports. Help provide corrective actions
Will adjust working hours and/or work extra hours to meet project deadlines
Supports manufacturing
Drives scrap reduction initiatives
Trains extrusion technicians
MANUFACTURING ENGINEER REQUIREMENTS:
BS in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Strong mathematical, analytical, and creative thinking skills.
Ability to work in a team or alone.
Self-starter with a passion for engineering.
Strong organizational skills
Strongly motivated and goal oriented
5 to 7 years relevant job experience
Excellent interpersonal skills in working with a variety of teams, suppliers, customers

The company began as Toro Motor Co., an engine supplier for Bull Tractor Co., and survived the tumultuous years of World War I by building steam engines to support the war effort.
