The Toro Company Irrigation & Lighting Division has an opening for a Product Marketing Manager, Lighting based out of Riverside, CA. This individual will be responsible for all product planning and NPD functions within the LED lighting product line. This individual will be the internal "expert" of his/her product line(s) and must possess technical AND creative prowess. The Product Marketing Manager (PM) duties include (but are not limited to): new product development, quality control, competitive analysis, forecasting, cost reduction/profit enhancement & operational efficiency. PMs also consult with channel marketing, marketing communications & sales teams on promotions, literature & media. Qualified applicants must be organized and able to work effectively in a solo environment and a team.
Role and Responsibilities
Continuously analyzes current market conditions, competitive product offerings, and regulatory actions that could impact the business.
Collaborates with sales, finance, production, sourcing, engineering and marketing colleagues to accomplish objectives.
Defines new product requirements in conjunction with channel marketing & sales teams.
Manages product manufacturing cycle, fill rate and inventory to ensure on-time delivery
Represents the marketing team & lighting business at trade shows & events. Provides high-level field support if necessary.
Manages the technical product catalog for the designated line.
Assists (as needed) with program development to achieve sales and profitability goals.
Interfaces with all types of customers and channel partners to help meet their needs. Customer-driven philosophy to provide the highest level of service and support.
Provides speeches/presentations to industry professionals, colleagues and customer groups.
Working Relationships: Work directly with other departments, marketing teams, and cross-functional teams to deliver an ideal result. Develop rapport with all customers and industry professionals. Represent the brand and the Toro Company with a professional appearance.
Decision Making: Provide critical analysis (when appropriate) in a thoughtful, intelligent manner. Analyze & interpret key data points and anticipate likely follow-up questions.
Problem-Solving: Ability to solve challenges in development, quality and production through conventional and creative means.
Attitude: Possess a positive attitude; be enthusiastic and driven to succeed. Best qualities should show in pressure-filled situations. Above-board ethics are a MUST.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform all essential job duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to meet these standards.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning is required. An MBA or other graduate degree is a plus.
Experience: 5+ years in marketing, engineering, project/product management, lighting or another related field desired. Strong communication and networking skills are required to be successful. Must be skilled in leading cross-functional teams.
Travel: Up to 15% travel may be required.
Experience managing product lines or projects is a big plus.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office Programs is strongly desired. Experience with Enterprise CRMs, Microsoft SharePoint, PDMLink, SAP or Concur is a plus.
Able to speak in front of large groups with confidence while presenting technical information.
