About Us:

Target is an iconic brand, a Fortune 50 company and one of America's leading retailers.

Target as a tech company? Absolutely. We're the behind-the-scenes powerhouse that fuels Target's passion and commitment to cutting-edge innovation. We anchor every facet of one of the world's best-loved retailers with a strong technology framework that relies on the latest tools and technologies-and the brightest people-to deliver incredible value to guests online and in stores. Target Technology Services is on a mission to offer the systems, tools and support that guests and team members need and deserve. Our high-performing teams balance independence with collaboration, and we pride ourselves on being versatile, agile and creative. We drive industry-leading technologies in support of every angle of the business, and help ensure that Target operates smoothly, securely and reliably from the inside out.

As a Senior Engineer, you serve as an expert in the Enterprise Collaboration team. You will apply your skills, experience, and talents to be a part of a team responsible for enabling productivity and collaboration in a large, complex, and fast paced environment. This position is primarily focused on Zoom (meetings and webinars), Zoom Rooms, and Zoom Phone. Portfolio makeup and responsibilities may change over time based on our strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the administration, maintenance, and support of Collaboration products and services.
  • Evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target's technical environment, maintainability, and cost of ownership.
  • Initiate and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies. Lead the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services.
  • Prepare high quality system documentation to aid in troubleshooting, disaster recovery practices, security initiatives, and cross-training other team members.

You understand and appreciate the impact of poor reliability on our users. You will work individual incidents and be part of the on-call rotation to respond with urgency when major incidents occur. You will represent our team on conference calls led by the Technology Operations Center and drive for resolution.
  • You will focus on incident prevention and enable level 1 and level 2 support teams to resolve incidents where possible.
  • You focus on governance and will help define and implement processes that proactively address security and compliance risks. Examples include quarterly access reviews and SharePoint site lifecycle processes.
  • You will be an active participant in setting team OKR's on a quarterly basis. You will have a strong partnership with the Product Owner and other Engineers to consistently push the team to focus on the most important outcomes.
  • You will be an active participant in all agile ceremonies (stand up, backlog grooming, sprint planning, demo's, and retrospectives).

  • You will actively monitor key vendor roadmaps and change logs to effectively plan for changes to services before they hit our production tenant. Design and build stage/test environments for validation new product features or versions. You will develop partnerships with key vendor contacts.
  • You will support the Product Owner to prepare required end-user documentation to enable deployment and adoption.
  • You will contribute to and review solution designs to ensure business requirements are met, and proposed solutions align with technical roadmaps. Understand Target's architecture and make smart choices that align with it.
  • You will collaborate cross-functionally with security and other technical teams (e.g., Network, Identity/Authentication). You will develop strong partnerships with multiple teams to deliver secure, stable, high-performance solutions to our users.
  • Participate in the definition of standard I.T. practices and procedures. You focus on operational efficiency and pursue ideas to improve it (e.g., automation).
