A full-time temporary position is available with the Minnesota House of Representatives as a television production technician for the nonpartisan Public Information Services office. The office supports the mission of the House of Representatives through news and information services, including: reporting on committees and floor sessions, informational publications, photography and television coverage.
Duties are to assist in production and technical operations for video coverage of the House during the 2022 legislative session. The House operates two full TV control rooms for production of remote and on-site meetings, and three streaming workstations using the Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) Studio production and streaming software for remote meetings. Staff roles include that of technical director, live-streaming operator, audio and graphics operator, streaming producer and video file processor.
Responsibilities include technical direction of television production, operating audio and graphics systems, coordinating television production elements of OBS-based remote meetings, technical directing of OBS-based remote meetings, processing and uploading video files, and operation of robotic cameras.
An ideal candidate will have experience with technical directing, character generator systems, working in video control rooms, streaming/video conferencing software, and have a background in all aspects and techniques of live television production. Some long and irregular hours required.
Entry salary range is $16.81 - $26.89 per hour, commensurate with experience. This position is anticipated to begin in late January and run approximately through the end of May, depending on session length.
