As a Lead Project Manager, you'll take the lead as you manage technology projects directly related to Target's strategic priorities. See your efforts come to fruition in Target Stores, Distribution Centers, and Headquarters locations by assembling project plans and teamwork assignments, monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality reviews, and escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately. Use your strong analytical skills to ensure project delivery is on time and within budget while communicating milestones and risks to business partners and technology product owners. Responsibilities:
  • HW Capacity Planning
    • Work with Data Center, Distribution Customers, and Stores on overall capacity consumption for just in time ordering/deployment
    • Partner with application, security, and infrastructure teams on future trends driving additional capacity
  • HW N+1 Inputs and Planning
    • Collect product team requirements and feedback on current compute hardware features and gaps to incorporate to technical design requirements, includes planning with application, security, and infrastructure teams to identify emerging trends driving new capabilities
    • Document and analyze N+1 supplier hardware capabilities, warranties, and support services against requirements
    • Work with data center, network, and platform teams to build lab environments and validation plans for next gen HW across Data Centers, Distribution Centers, and Store prototypes
    • Partner closely with Indirect Sourcing teams to lead detailed RFP and Negotiation planning across OEM and OCP vendors
    • Project manage N+1 hardware design, roadmaps, product reviews and supplier on-boarding including required code development for provisioning and HW services, and supplier/Target ordering, reporting, hardware break/fix and other HW support processes.
  • HW Reliability Metrics
    • Work closely with Engineer teams and SRE teams to drive OCP and OEM HW failure rates across Compute HW offering
    • Work with vendors on next gen requirements, updates to existing, and feedback loops for vendors on HW MTBF rates
  • HW Capacity Capital and L&M Budget Planning & Maintenance
    • Provide detailed inputs for annual HW capital planning budget for HW Capacity investments across Data Centers, Stores, & Distribution Centers
    • Work closely with partner teams driving new Compute capabilities to plan business justification and TCO of new HW
    • Provide inputs to Long Range HW planning based on capacity trends, new capabilities, and overall refresh planning
    • Manage ongoing and long-term L&M budgets for any HW or SW licensing, maintenance, support in lieu of pre-paid capitalized HW support
  • General PM Responsibilities for associated projects
    • Deliver supporting documentation on project charter/details as needed
    • Identify risks and mitigation plan to HW refresh scope and schedule
    • Identify refresh stakeholders and provided regular status updates and communications
    • Ensure resource management and prioritization across projects for both internal and partner team commitments


About you:
  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of project management experience
  • Deep knowledge of project management tools, resource and financial best practices, and methodologies (e.g., waterfall and agile). Smartsheet used as primary project management tool.
  • Experience supporting technology in a retail environment
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to talk to people in person or on the phone for the majority of your day
  • Detail oriented; strong organizational and analytical skills
  • High degree of professionalism and high sensitivity for confidentiality
  • Works both independently and well within a collaborative project team
  • Ability to complete assignments accurately and on-time
  • Ability to follow documented and oral instructions and directions
  • Ability to learn and apply new knowledge and skills quickly
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to complete tasks without errors
