JOIN US AS A LEAD AI SCIENTIST - COMPUTER VISION

The AI team at Target is a fast growing and dynamic team. Our AI scientists work to create valuable retail insights through state-of-the-art mathematical models powered by cutting edge AI technologies. Business teams, empowered with these insights, provide joy of everyday shopping to each Target guest.

As a Lead AI Scientist in AI Foundations you'll be expected to research and develop software solutions for computer vision, natural language understanding, and other machine learning based products. You will create solutions using Agile practices and DevOps principles. Responsibilities will include model development, designing, programming, debugging and supporting high quality, distributed, large scale software solutions.

We are looking for a highly-motivated research/engineering professional who is a team player and can engage with both technical and business team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop classical and deep Computer Vision models for visual embedding, object detection, segmentation, 3D computer vision, etc.
  • Prototype, design, and own individual components of a larger ML solution
  • Workflow management using Oozie, Hadoop, Slurm
  • Embrace the needs of the customers and stakeholders and take ownership
  • Ensure that quality of code meets standards and guidelines
  • Collaborate with internal partner organizations in developing an integrated solution
  • Develop AI related software systems using continuous integration and continuous deployment practices
  • Follow agile methodology for software development and technical documentation
  • Innovate constantly and stay current with latest technologies while staying focused on solving problems at hand.


Requirements:

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with computer vision and machine learning model development and deployment in an industrial setting
  • 2+ years' experience in developing software applications
  • Understand application/software development and design
  • Ability to test and measure algorithms
  • Strong leadership, organization and communication skills


Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience working on Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark and Hive
  • Working knowledge of Docker
  • Knowledge and experience with production ready data driven applications that are observable, maintainable, and scalable
  • Proficiency in at-least one of the following languages: Python, Java, C++
