As a Lead Engineer in Cyber Defense, your primary responsibility is to support and develop Target's security log ingestion platform. Our main goal is to automate the collection of security logs, normalize, filter, and provide integrations. You will help develop and gain insight into visibility gaps when it comes to security logging for cloud-based workflows. You will primarily be working in private and public cloud environments. Our primary customer is Target's Cyber Fusion Center where we provide event logging as a service to the threat detection and incident response teams. About you:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of software development experience with at least one full cycle implementation
  • Strong problem-solving & troubleshooting skills
  • Solid understanding of security logging and its challenges
  • Solid understanding of logstash and beats

  • Solid understanding of common source code version control tools: GitHub, BitBucket, SourceForge
  • Experience with writing and supporting scripting languages: Python, JavaScript, Ruby, Bash
  • Experience with data manipulation practices: Regular Expressions (RegEx), sed, grok
  • Experience coaching/mentoring junior developers

  • Public Cloud Experience (AWS / GCP / Azure / OVH / Rackspace / etc)
  • Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch / Logstash / Kibana / Beats)
  • Kubernetes
  • Ansible/Terraform Configuration Management

  • Linux
  • Ruby / Python / Go / Bash Language skills
  • CI/CD pipeline and tooling background (Jenkins, Drone, Travis etc)
  • Basic understanding of network ingress/egress in cloud environments
