St. Catherine University and the Office of Communications invite applications for a Graphic Designer position.

The Office of Communications serves the university and supports our Institutional Advancement team which includes a number of departments that face the external community. The Graphic Designer collaborates with internal clients, writers, designers, project managers and web developers to design materials that creatively and accurately represent the mission of the University, maintain brand standards, achieve established objectives and communicate key messages effectively and economically. Responsibilities include:
  • Developing a wide range of print and digital communications, including: print and online publications, photography, video, social media, event packages, animation, direct mail and email.
  • Working closely with vendors such as: photographers, videographers, and printers to assure deliverables are accurate and meet brand and quality standards.
  • Reviewing proofs and making alterations as needed to achieve accurate production.
  • Keeping numerous projects on track and on schedule, meeting tight time constraints.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues that may arise.
  • Offering creative and timely solutions when unexpected project changes arise.
  • Effectively using project management systems and project tracking tools
  • Fostering strong, collaborative partnerships with all constituents and stakeholders
  • Stay abreast of communication and design trends.
  • All design work will be done on a Macintosh system.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related area.
  • Three years of graphic design experience in print and digital design and production.
  • Print and digital work samples that demonstrate a strong sense of composition, typography, color and attention to detail.
  • Experience collaborating with clients to conceive successful and creative communications for print and web collateral, to set and manage expectations and to receive and interpret feedback in an open and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of print production including file set-up and print specifications.
  • Experience editing and retouching photos.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Suite.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years of graphic design experience in print and digital design and production.
  • Experience directing or leading photoshoots.
  • Animation experience using Adobe After Effects
  • Video editing experience using Adobe Premier
  • Photography skills
  • Videography skills
