A role in Corporate Compliance and Ethics means providing support and managing key compliance areas for Target including stores, distribution centers and at headquarters. You will also be a part of helping Target maintain a positive work environment by coordinating efforts in its Ethics office.

As a Lead Ethics Consultant, you will help to drive Target's ethical culture through the execution of program foundations and development of new program strategies, all while providing strategic and timely guidance on Ethics questions and concerns. Primary job duties are as follows:

  • Provide daily advice and counsel on a wide range of Ethics topics, including but not limited to conflicts of interest, gifts and entertainment, and external engagement.
  • Develop, implement, and manage program infrastructure, policies, and practices required to drive an ethical culture and meet governance obligations.
  • Develop and implement program tools, training, and communications that ensure employees have a strong understanding of the Code of Ethics and what is expected of them and are comfortable speaking up about concerns.
  • Conduct conflict of interest reviews and develop and implement identified conflict management plans.
  • Assist in the coordination of internal misconduct cases, including case assignment, policy application, and adjudication decision, partnering closely with investigative teams, Legal partners, and HR partners. Ensure employee concerns are addressed in a prompt and thorough manner. Consult on investigative process, identifying and helping to solve for, any gaps or remediation efforts.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and consultative partner on business initiatives requiring ethics expertise; participate in enterprise cross-functional teams requiring ethics guidance, identifying intersection points with other enterprise teams.
  • Create and lead business engagement plans tailored to addressing emerging risks and ethics gaps specific to business area. Independently lead project management efforts, setting and managing timelines, escalating issues and communicating progress with key partners and leaders.
  • Engage in industry benchmarking and regularly participate in external roundtable discussions. Leverage industry insights, evolving business needs, and observed internal trends to identify potential ethics risks and implement policy changes and/or new training and communication needs.
  • Advise and coach leaders and HR partners on how to drive an ethical culture within their teams and provide the necessary tools and resources to effectively lead these efforts.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and personal integrity required to build trust and champion our ethical culture.

About You:
  • Four year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in an Ethics/Compliance, Legal, and/or HR-related professional experience. Retail/ Field and Investigations experience a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly establish trust and rapport, influence without authority, and collaborate effectively across many different internal and external stakeholder group.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels & locations and facilitate large-scale meetings/ training settings.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to leverage data to influence decisions, identify risks and improvement opportunities, work through ambiguous situations and outcomes, and distill complex issues into actionable plans.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining appropriate prioritization and ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to apply discretion and sensitivity while working with confidential information.
