Indirect Category Manager position is available to sit in either Bloomington, MN or Perry, OK.

JOB PURPOSE:

As a key member of Corporate Sourcing,this role is accountable for the management of assigned materials and services within the Indirect Sourcing category. Incumbent must establish and maintain relations with internal business units and key suppliers that are advantageous to The Toro Company.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and administer a strategic sourcing plan for each assigned category including analyzing spend information and assisting internal business customers with defining requirements

  • Manage assigned indirect categories to be the subject matter expert on the supplier base, market conditions, and product knowledge

  • Execute Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposals (RFP), compile results, analyze proposals, and recommend/determine selection for various assigned materials and services

  • Negotiate contracts and counter proposals to suppliers in an effort to secure the highest quality goods and service value

  • Define optimal supplier management strategies or scorecards and implement for key categories in an effort to monitor and improve supplier performance; facilitate meetings and discussions to execute appropriate corrective action when necessary

  • Assess and respond to requests from internal customers for pricing, cost savings, supplier, and product/service information

  • Provide support for categories assigned to other Sourcing team members as appropriate

  • Assists in preparing and presenting supplier, and market purchasing information to business management

  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

JOB DIMENSIONS:

Responsible for a high category spend that includes development and execution on all aspects of category management including supplier management, risk management, contract management, productivity improvement, and cost, quality, and service improvement. Categories assigned vary in complexity up to and including highly complex and visible corporate projects. Minimal travel up to 10%.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; graduate degree and/or CPM/CPSM designation preferred

  • Five (5) plus years of progressive professional purchasing experience

  • Demonstrated effective project communications, project management, and compliance management

  • Proven background with budgeting, scheduling, and vendor management

  • Exceptional negotiation skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and knowledge including Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Excellent administrative, analytical, communication, and negotiation skills

  • Ability to partner with internal and external resources

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, professionally and decisively in an effort to solve issues effectively
