A role in Inventory Planning and Control, IPC, (a division of Global Inventory Management) means applying your specialized and well-informed point of view to what we buy, from whom, how much and where it needs to go from there. You'll work with engineers in Target Technology Services and Data Science to develop the algorithms that determine how much inventory we purchase from suppliers, and which stores or fulfillment centers need inventory at what time to allow Target to operate successfully and meet the needs of the guest. Product Teams at Target Corporation are accountable for the delivery of business outcomes enabled through technology and analytic products that are easy to use, easily maintained and highly reliable. Product teams have one shared backlog that is inclusive of all product, technology and design work.

A role in Global Inventory Management (GIM) means applying your specialized and well-informed point of view to what we buy, from whom, how much and where it needs to go from there. You'll use the right combination of data and expertise to achieve the best possible product availability through proper inventory positioning. You'll also focus on the efficient transportation of product around the world, while ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and achieving the best possible product availability through proper inventory positioning. You'll not only establish and develop great relationships with our vendors to encourage on-time shipment and delivery to stores and ultimately guests, but you'll also analyze transportation supplier capabilities and contracts for maximum speed, reliability and cost effectiveness.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

As a Lead Inventory Intelligence Analyst, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our automation and light-weight prototyping application (Atlas). This application enables our team to build capabilities that support IM's acute problem solving needs, while informing solutions for modern replenishment systems. Through automation of processes, web application interactions, and consolidation of data from disparate data stores, we enable the IM teams to move quickly and eliminate the time consuming tasks to more efficiently deliver improved business results for our guest.

In addition to the application responsibilities, you will work closely with product partners to add new capabilities to product backlogs and influence prioritization and sequencing. Within the team, you will define best practices, mentor other team members, model high-quality code through your own contributions, and partner closely with the Sr. Manager to understand the needs of the business.

About you:
  • 4-year college degree (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of retail and/or inventory management and supply chain
  • Experience developing prototyping solutions (such as rapid problem solving or path to production)
  • Experience communicating between business and technology teams
  • Experience with python in application development and data analytics use cases.
  • Strong object oriented programming skills and good coding habits.
  • Knowledge of SQL and familiar with relational databases such as DB2, PostgreSQL, SQLite3.
  • Capable of sourcing data from non-relational sources such as Hadoop, and using APIs to retrieve data.
  • Able to build out backend APIs using frameworks like fastAPI and create the databases they interact with using PostgreSQL.
  • Understanding of HTML and JavaScript and how to automate interactions with web applications.
  • Experienced with git/Github workflows for code source control.
  • Familiarity with VBA or similar (VbScript, .Net) for support of legacy product.


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $81,300 to $146,400.
