Customer Service Technician I-RIV

  • Performs diagnostic on the returned controller to diagnose the cause of the malfunction. Makes adjustments or repairs accordingly. Tests circuit boards and components to locate defects. Replaces or repairs defective circuit boards and components.
  • May converse with the customer to ascertain the problem with equipment and to determine if equipment failure is due to normal wear, water damage, weather, or other factors. Determines if repair is within warranty guidelines and if not, provides repair estimate to the customer.
  • Tests, adjusts, and calibrates controller according to specifications.
  • Maintains records of repairs, calibrations, and tests in a computerized system.
  • Reassembles unit and prepares for Shipment or Stock (Bank) as applicable.
  • Maintains adequate Stocks (Bank) of repaired controllers of specific model types assigned to them, per the monthly schedule provided by the Manager.

Education

  • Education: High School diploma or GED with course work in reading Schematics and Bills of Materials and basic Technical documentation.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of engineering laboratory testing experience using sophisticated electronic instruments desired.
  • Training: Apprenticeship or formal training in electric/electronic repair highly desirable.
  • Computer Skills: Must have the ability to effectively use a personal computer and associated software.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Technician III must have the ability to solve non-routine problems.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Must have the ability to effectively use various electronic, hand, and power tools and test equipment. Demonstrated ability to solder (through-hole and surface-mount) and de-solder. Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and test procedures. Ability to use precision measuring devices, Oscilloscopes, and Electronic Test Instrumentation.
