A role in Corporate Compliance and Ethics means providing support and managing key compliance areas for Target including stores, distribution centers and at headquarters. You will also be a part of helping Target maintain a positive work environment by coordinating efforts in its Ethics office.

As a Sr Manager, Compliance you will:
  • Provide work direction and leadership to a team responsible for the development, implementation, and on-going management of Adult Beverage and Product Restriction Compliance Programs at Target; Direct the development, implementation and improvement of policies and practices for these programs, consistent with Target's policy and Compliance Management System frameworks
  • Maintain an intimate understanding of regulatory risks for assigned compliance programs, including classification of product for storage and disposal throughout the domestic supply chain, product claims, and age and other product restrictions; lead the evaluation, implementation of any new requirements in partnership with senior leaders
  • Establish team metrics and reporting capabilities to monitor capacity, identify trends, evaluate process effectiveness, and recommend improvements or solutions to identified risks; instill a culture of compliance and continuous improvement amongst team and partners, using data to influence decisions around control procedures, new technologies, or changes in practice or policy
  • Develop and maintain effective and influential relationships with stakeholders responsible for the execution and integration of compliance programs, policies and initiatives; key partners include but are not limited to: Merchandising, Store Operations, Technology Product Management, Owned Brand Sourcing and Development, and the Law Department
  • Serve as subject matter expert, advisor, and thought partner for assigned compliance programs, educating partners on compliance requirements, establishing training and awareness campaigns and facilitating the regulatory change management process as new laws are introduced; program ownership includes but is not limited to: Adult Beverage, Product Claims, Product Restrictions, Age Restrictions, Chemical Reporting, and Product Classification for storage and disposal
  • Represent Target with regulators and external industry groups and serve as primary relationship manager with 3rd party data, technical and service providers for Product Classification
  • Create and maintain a positive team culture by demonstrating behaviors consistent with Target's values of Inclusivity, Connection and Drive; ensure on-going, effective communications to the team, and support individualized development by offering regular performance feedback, coaching and recognition.

About You:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or other relevant field of study and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of directly related work experience in compliance, operations or regulatory change management; must include experience using Governance Risk and Compliance tools
  • Progressive leadership experience
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, resolve conflict, build consensus, establish rapport and collaborate effectively, internally and externally, across all levels of an organization
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to translate regulations and guidance into executable strategies, leverage data to influence decisions, identify risks and improvement opportunities, and distill complex issues into actionable plans
  • Highly organized with the ability to independently adapt, prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks or projects in response to changing, ambiguous or competing priorities
  • Ability to apply discretion and sensitivity while working with confidential information
  • Previous experience managing vendor relations and identifying, implementing, and leading the change management efforts for new technology or processes
  • Ability to develop effective and collaborative relationships with key business leaders in order to drive accountability, instill confidence, and influence outcomes across business functions
  • Strong attention to detail, with a bias for accuracy and alignment between deliverables and strategic intent

  • Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)
  • Master's, JD or other advanced degree in a related field
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment within the retail industry
  • Previous experience developing and overseeing sustainable compliance programs

This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $81,300 to $146,400.
