Research Consultant: Public Safety, Judiciary & Civil Law - DFL Caucus

Temporary backfill position as a Research Consultant in the DFL Caucus of the Minnesota House of Representatives. We expect to require coverage from approximately early-February through the end of regular legislative session in 2022 when the current Research Consultant is on leave.

Responsibilities include working with House committees, individual DFL legislators, and appropriate legislative staff to summarize legislation, draft amendments, track bills, conduct research, prepare memos and maintain communication with DFL legislators, staff, and other interested parties. This position will be assigned to the Public Safety and the Judiciary & Civil Law committees in the House.

We prefer someone who 1) is familiar with the demands of the legislative session, 2) has demonstrated ability to provide research and analysis; (3) is familiar with legislation and issues relating to Public Safety, Judiciary & Civil Law; and 4) has excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have the ability to work long and irregular hours (including evenings and weekends) during the legislative session.

Entry salary $2,228.70 semi-monthly commensurate with experience.
