A role with the Design team means a big opportunity to start from scratch and create something truly original. Are you a design expert who can support your business by staying one step ahead of industry trends, new materials and techniques? Can you demonstrate the utmost attention to detail and create products that are unprecedented in the marketplace for their design and quality for the price? Then you'll have success on our Design team who owns the design and development of all Target-owned brands, from apparel to home goods, and beauty to essentials. In close partnership with our merchant and sourcing counterparts, you'll drive brand cohesion and continuity, ensuring that our products meet the merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction.

As an associate designer you will support and be accountable for All in Motion brand to achieve overall product design strategy and merchant objectives. Under the overall direction of design leadership, you will work on a womens leggings and family outerwear categories and manage your own process and calendar.

Creative Skill Set

You will use your creative skill set to support and develop product from start to finish. Utilizing your ability to follow design direction, interpret trend, and color you will translate your ideas to meet the brand aesthetic. You will bring to life the design vision throughout the development process, research, selection of materials/finishes, and the creation of silhouettes. Using hand sketch, technical sketches, you'll translate ideas for product direction. This includes professional presentation boards with illustration, CAD artwork, fabrication, and material samples.

Avid Learner

You will utilized your passion to continually learn in this role. Interested in the guest, the new technology, and the market. You will be asked to share your insights and finding with the design team and bring your unique view point. Your growth and development will expand as you learn about garment construction, new innovations, product development systems and sustainability. The desire to learn, share, and explore will bring new product to the guest.

Reliable Partner

You will be expected to maintain a diligent approach to workload, which includes timely communication with internal and external partners. In addition, you will support developing product designs to maintain overall creative direction, merchant line plans, assortment strategies, and price points. You'll gain knowledge on how to build brand cohesion though partnering with peers to ensure continuity.

About You
  • 4 year Design, Fine Art or applicable training and minimum 2 years' experience.
  • Passion for performance apparel with a contemporary modern esthetic.
  • A strong design point of view and ability to design highly functioning and credible performance garments.
  • Computer design system skills including, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Experience in CAD illustration & hand sketching.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to do creative, focused, visual presentations
  • Ability to multi-task, demonstrate a sense of urgency and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to successfully work in a collaborative a fast-pace team environment


Preferred experiences:
  • Experience 2+ years in Performance experience
  • Experience working with a big cross functional team for a large brand or vertical retailer
  • Virtual design software experience such as CLO, browzwear, optitex.
