PHARMACY SUPERVISOR - FORMULARY

Work Location: Standard or hybrid

The health and safety of our employees, members, providers, and our community is our highest priority. Position Description

This position is responsible to oversee all UCare formularies, medical drug authorization policies and associated clinical programs. Maintain and implement pharmacy management strategies with the goal of managing drug trend on pharmacy and medical benefit. Work with appropriate UCare departments as well as the Pharmacy Benefit Management Company (PBM) and Medical Drug Vendor to ensure strategic goals related to the Pharmacy Benefit are met.

• Oversee the development and maintenance of all UCare formularies and medical drug policies.

• Supervise and provide oversight of the clinical pharmacists. Recruit, interview and select new staff. Coordinate new employee orientation planning, maintenance of materials and collaborate with leader for on-going staff development and training.

• Evaluate and implement programs to manage pharmacy and medical drug spend through data analytics.

• Oversee and assist in the preparation of the agenda and all materials for the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee meetings. Make recommendations for the Committee's approval. Ensure approved changes are communicated to the PBM and implemented.

• Ensure that all regulatory (e.g., CMS, DHS, and MDH) requirements are met regarding formulary submission, management, and publication.

• Oversee clinical formulary operations delegated to PBM and oversee medical drug policy operations delegated to Medical Drug Vendor.

• Develop and maintain Policies, Procedures and Job Aids related to formulary and medical drug authorization processes.

• Ensure adequate monitoring and evaluation of drug pipeline.

• Collaborate with the Health Care Economics Department in cost projections based on projected changes in the pharmacy marketplace.

• Participate on various UCare Committees and Product Teams.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required. PharmD preferred. Current Minnesota pharmacy licensure required.

Required Experience

Three years' experience in a clinical pharmacy role, with at least two years' experience in a managed care and/or PBM company. One year supervisor or leadership experience. Demonstrated Project Management and presentation experience.

Preferred Experience

Five or more years' experience in a managed care and/or PBM organization. Experience with Medicare Part D, Medicaid, and Health Exchange pharmacy benefit administration.
