Last Mile Transportation at Target is responsible for moving E-Commerce shipments from our unique Omnichannel fulfillment network to our Guests' homes. More than 80% of that volume originates in over 1400 of our Stores making Target the largest volume true Omnichannel shipper out there. Servicing the transportation out of that huge distributed network and high volumes means a simultaneous microscopic attention to day to day detail as well as the ability to step back think strategically in order to drive change within Target and with our carriers to fully leverage our Stores as Hubs strategy and provide maximum Best in Class Guest Experience.

As an Area Manager, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence within the ship from store execution team. You will need to build and maintain relationships with store partners, carrier partners, and other various HQ and field teams. Strong problem solving skills, ability to use data to make decisions, and being a collaborative team player are must have skills. It is also important that you be comfortable with rapid change and working ambiguously as digital demand continues to grow and the need for developing creative solutions with out of the box thinking is imperative to continue to meet guest's expectations.

This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

About you:
  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience driving results of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through 3rd Party Logistics partners
  • Business relationship building / engagement within the transportation industry
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills
  • Self-motivated and demonstrates initiative; demonstrates ability to work independently
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Transportation management experience preferred
  • Role is field based, candidates must be located within the Western United States.


Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $62,500 to $112,500. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Target cares about and invests in you as a team member, so that you can take care of yourself and your family.
