St. Catherine University and the Education Department invite applications for a full-time (32hrs/week) Placement Coordinator for fieldwork and clinical experiences.

St. Kate's offers different program pathways for aspiring educators to earn an education degree. Our faculty inspire socially aware educators to learn and implement anti-bias and anti-racist teaching strategies, create effective lesson plans, assess and manage classrooms, understand the needs of diverse and special learners, and ground their learning in education philosophy. The Placement Coordinator makes arrangements for fieldwork and clinical experiences to support our students in achieving their degree requirements. The Placement Coordinator develops and reviews applications and handbooks and trains faculty, adjunct supervisors, and host teachers in appropriate mentoring and evaluating practices. The Placement Coordinator also plays a key role in facilitating in the Pre Student Teaching Interview ( PSTI ) process each semester. Responsibilities include:

  • Creating faculty teams with designated times for PSTI , candidate documents, and DRF in Taskstream.
  • Conducting teacher education candidate meetings in collaboration with the Initial Licensure Program Director which are related to foundational fieldwork experiences, student teaching intake, and student teaching sendoff.
  • Placing teacher education candidates in fieldwork and student teaching settings with a cooperating teacher/mentor.
  • Planning and conducting training sessions for university supervising faculty and adjuncts around supervision and mentoring.
  • Assigning full-time faculty and adjuncts as university supervisors who will evaluate student performance.
  • Collecting final evaluations, letters of recommendation from university supervisor and cooperating teacher, student teaching applications to verify candidate eligibility.
  • Coordinating the administration of the edTPA including communicating and tracking submission dates, ordering and tracking vouchers, troubling shooting, etc.
  • Providing support for faculty as they work to implement edTPA in their courses.
  • Working with the faculty in using official scoring and local scoring as part of the department's assessment system.
  • Informing Initial Licensure Program Director of any issues associated with teacher candidate clinical placements and providing assistance to the Director when counseling struggling teacher candidates.
  • Fostering relationships with partner schools including making contacts, assigning faculty and adjunct supervisors to observe candidate performance, facilitating co-teaching training and conducting meetings with candidates and supervisors.
  • Communicating with partner districts regarding edTPA purpose and requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field
  • Five years of experience working in PreK-12 settings as a teacher or administrator
  • Three years of experience using Learning Management Systems and Electronic Portfolio/Assessment Management tools
  • One year of experience using Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Education or related field
  • Three years of experience in teacher education, higher education, or student placement experience in schools
  • Holds or has held a valid teaching or administrator license/certification
  • Knowledge of Minnesota Licensure Requirements and PELSB Rules
