This facility, located in Plymouth, WI, is over 400,000 sq. ft. in size, warehousing 136,000+ SKUs and $50+ millions of inventory. A team of 200+ individuals ships 2.6 million lines of product annually to channel partners, leveraging technology such as SAP, LucasWare, and Mercury Gate.

Lead day-to-day operations execution of strategic improvement plans at The Toro Company’s (TTC) global parts distribution center. He/she will ensure all safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost & productivity, budgeting, and people objectives are met throughout the building, in service of a channel partner network of 135+ distributors, 5,000 dealers, hundreds of mass retail locations, and thousands of dot com and/or end-user customers.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for executing the annual strategic plan, focused on improvements to safety, quality, on-time delivery, technology, and productivity & cost improvements
  • Work with cross-functional teams, such as Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Logistics, Order Services, Inventory Control, and Finance to provide the quickest and least expensive order fulfillment process for our channel partners & TTC
  • Work cross-functionally with Operations leaders, HR, and Talent Development to set performance goals & expectations of leaders within the operation, to drive improved accountability & employee engagement
  • Coach leaders on best practices in areas such as inventory control, storage density, material flow (inbound & outbound), resource allocation, and volume analysis
  • Develop problem solving capabilities in managers & supervisors by teaching LEAN problem solving skills (see, solve, share, coach)
  • Promote LEAN process improvement programs via structured kaizen events; ensure proper participation, collaboration, and execution of continuous improvement ideas
  • Work with Talent Acquisition to build & maintain a strong team; partner in activities such as recruitment, hiring, proper on-boarding, and on-going training to meet employee & operational needs
  • Foster culture of collaboration and teamwork - defuse, resolve, and reduce conflict
  • Lead the management & execution of capital & operating expense budgets
  • Establish leading & lagging key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational performance; track results and report-out to stakeholders on variances, root causes, and countermeasures to improve performance & reduce process variation
  • Partner with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team members to execute actions to improve safety & security of people, building, and materials, ensuring all OSHA, state, and local regulations are met
  • Represent Toro in the local community to include but limited to organizations such as the Department of Transportation, OSHA, local utilities, Chamber of Commerce, and non-profit organizations
  • All other tasks and assignments as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business, or related field
  • 10+ years of Supply Chain experience in progressively complex positions; operations experience a plus
  • Proven ability to manage a unionized workforce within collective bargaining agreement
  • Demonstrated effective leadership of teams through change in a fast-paced & complex environment, within an organization that values logistics and distribution as a strategic advantage
  • Solid understanding or previous experience implementing automation within a parts distribution center or similar operation
  • Strong analytical, financial and P&L skills; demonstrated ability of managing cost performance
  • Strong management, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels across the organization
  • Self-motivated and directed, able to work well under pressure, manage and prioritize multiple initiatives concurrently, attend to details, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to anticipate problems and take action to minimize their likelihood and impact
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and change priorities and direction as needed, allowing for optimum effectiveness
  • Ability to create change & improve operational performance with streamlined, sustainable, and efficient processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds (Spanish fluency a plus)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, basic understanding of SAP WMS and MercuryGate TMS preferred
