Work Location: Standard or hybrid (in the office 3 days or more per week).

Position Description

This position is responsible for providing health care analytics services to support the organization and UCare management. The Actuarial Analyst will support a variety of actuarial and health care finance projects, up to and including support for UCare's pricing, medical and pharmacy health data analytics, and utilization and cost of care modeling. Role may include supporting development of appropriate benchmarks for comparison of UCare against competitors to evaluate current and potential business opportunities.

• Support the annual Medicare and ACA product pricing processes including manual rate analysis, assumption setting, model validation and peer review. Collaborate closely with actuarial staff and other key stakeholders within the organization to produce a competitive product portfolio that aligns with strategic priorities.

• Review and summarize business and competitive landscape for health insurance product segments including Medicare, Individual, and Medicaid. Review publicly available data and develop appropriate benchmarks to objectively evaluate UCare performance across a variety of measures.

• Ability to learn and apply programming skills across various ongoing financial analysis and support for managerial decision making, internal/external reporting, and financial/data support to internal business functions

• Represent Health Care Economics on UCare cross-departmental initiatives as an active contributor and reliable resource.

• Maintain appropriate documentation for departmental processes.

• Ad hoc analysis and backup support as needed.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.


Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, or related field. 2+ actuarial exams passed.

Required Experience

Two years of health industry, financial analyst or programming experience. 2 + actuarial exams passed. Intermediate SQL programming and Microsoft Excel skills.

Preferred Experience

Medicare and/or Medicaid experience. 3+ actuarial exams working towards ASA. Advanced level of SQL programming.
