Description:
JOB POSITION: Senior Engineer
LOCATION: 1000 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55403
DUTIES: Evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target's technical environment, maintainability, and cost of ownership; initiate and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies; lead the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services; lead and conduct code review, design review, testing, and debugging activities at the application level; lead functional design and architecture discussions with understanding of process flows and system diagrams to enable design decisions; participate in routine and non-routine construction, automation, and implementation activities, ensuring successful implementation with architectural and operational requirements and best practices met; lead disaster recovery activities and contribute to disaster recovery planning; provide technical oversight and coach others to resolve complex and severe technical issues; implement new features/fixes within the current framework to provide solutions for common problems faced by multiple application teams; partner with internal and external partners on various technology initiatives to manage the planning, execution and control of multiple projects; drive software development process improvements and establish best practices to deliver high quality software; manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment; and work with leadership to ensure that overall business objectives are met through the development and management of necessary enterprise technology solutions. Tools/technologies used: Gradle, Java, REST Web Services, ReactJS, Kibana, Git, JSON, Golang, Chef, Knife, Kotlin, HAProxy, VCL, Grafana, Docker, NodeJS, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Logstash, Filebeat, MacOS, IntelliJ, HTML, CSS, and Swagger. Position includes a telecommute benefit within commuting distance to Minneapolis-area Target office, as directed.
REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and at least three (3) years of experience in software development (any title) improving application performance, managing software projects, maintaining and analyzing applications, logging application information and errors, developing user interfaces, querying data, writing unit test cases, deploying code, and using Java, REST Web Services, ReactJS, IntelliJ, HTML, CSS, Git, JSON, and Agile methodology. Position includes a telecommute benefit within commuting distance to Minneapolis-area Target office, as directed.
