A role in Global Inventory Management (GIM) means applying your specialized and well-informed point of view to what we buy, from whom, how much and where it needs to go from there. You'll use the right combination of data and expertise to achieve the best possible product availability through proper inventory positioning. You'll also focus on the efficient transportation of product around the world, while ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and achieving the best possible product availability through proper inventory positioning. You'll not only establish and develop great relationships with our vendors to encourage on-time shipment and delivery to stores and ultimately guests, but you'll also analyze transportation supplier capabilities and contracts for maximum speed, reliability and cost effectiveness.

A role in Inventory Planning and Control (IPC), a division of Global Inventory Management, means applying your specialized and well-informed point of view to what we buy, from whom, how much and where it needs to go from there. You'll work with engineers in Target Technology Services and Data Science to develop the algorithms that determine how much inventory we purchase from suppliers, and which stores or fulfillment centers need inventory at what time to allow Target to operate successfully and meet the needs of the guest. Product Teams at Target Corporation are accountable for the delivery of business outcomes enabled through technology and analytic products that are easy to use, easily maintained and highly reliable. Product teams have one shared backlog that is inclusive of all product, technology and design work.

About the Job:

As a Manager of Inventory Planning and Control (IPC) - Activation and Support, you will be responsible for leading the activation plans across the inventory systems team and business teams, along with leading the GIM support team with direct reports. Responsibilities include...

  • Champion the GIM support team by building and developing a high performing, diverse, and engaged team. This role currently leads 3 intelligence managers
  • Work across GIM teams to ensure effective and efficient use of inventory systems, interfaces and processes to maximize on-boarding, process enhancement, and continuous product development.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts across GSCL to build out a new customer focused support model with our partner teams
  • Leverage your understanding of Legacy and Modern systems to support all of Target's business categories and unique nodes using modern inventory systems across the enterprise.
  • Manage the communication and coordination of system and network activation activities and problem solving across IPC, IM and other GSCL partners (systems and new supply chain flow paths)


About you:
  • 4-year college degree (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of retail and/or inventory management and supply chain
  • Demonstrated ability to breakdown complex problems, identify root cause of the issue, and develop sustainable solutions
  • Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams and partners at multiple levels of the organization
  • Experience developing prototyping solutions (such as rapid problem solving or path to production)
  • Experience in data analytics and automation, preferably through SQL, python, or similar languages.
  • Experience with technology and ability to facilitate communication between business and technology teams
  • Strong written and verbal communications
  • Strong process and program management skills


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $81,300 to $146,400.
