Date: January 2022

About Us:

As a Fortune 50 company with more than 350,000 team members worldwide, Target is an iconic brand and one of America's leading retailers.

Working at Target means the opportunity to help all families discover the joy of everyday life. Caring for our communities is woven into who we are, and we invest in the places we collectively live, work and play. We prioritize relationships, fuel and develop talent by creating growth opportunities, and succeed as one Target team. At our core, our purpose is ingrained in who we are, what we value, and how we work. It's how we care, grow, and win together.

The Financial and Retail Services (FRS) organization is close to the action when it comes to communication-whether with guests or Target team members. We cultivate loyalty and satisfaction through exceptional service and support and foster a culture of responsive, knowledgeable and committed service-from the inside out-through enterprise-wide services our team can count on. From guest service professionals and product designers, to vendor managers and financial and workforce management analysts, FRS comprises several key and high-visibility areas that elevate and nurture Target's distinctive reputation.

Our world-class service centers focus on the quick and seamless resolution of a variety of issues, directly supporting Target's bottom line through building guest loyalty as the retailer of choice and taking care of our team members so that they can get back to the work they do best, from headquarters to stores to distribution centers. The FRS Operations and Product Team plays at the intersections of process and technology, and Service Delivery Enablement develops comprehensive service delivery strategies for our service centers. Payments and Financial Operations strategically curate and enable payment acceptance for Target, working with internal and external partners to envision and advocate for the future, manage payment expense, proactively prevent fraud and manage the accounting and controls for FRS.

As Communications Lead FRS, you'll join the new and growing FRS internal communications team! You'll lead and champion a new practice for mass communication of critical business and operational updates with our Service Center organization. You'll be responsible for the planning, development and deployment of engaging content for team members and leaders across 14 unique Service Centers. You'll become an expert in Service Center teams' communications needs by fostering collaborative relationships with Service Center leaders, FRS teams including Strategy & Operations, Service Delivery Enablement and Operations & Product and partners throughout the enterprise. As a writer, editor and storyteller, you'll achieve the right combination of tone, timing, channels and messaging to help frontline leaders and team members across the country excel at their job and feel a sense of belonging and connection.

  • Work in partnership with Director-Communications and Senior Director-Strategy & Operations to shape strategy, infrastructure and implementation for a new Service Center mass communications program.
  • Develop and inform communication channels to support the strategy, including but not limited to email newsletters, Slack channels, video and SharePoint sites.
  • Deploy excellent project management skills to develop and execute best practices for planning, creating and delivering content that balances business need with audience impact.
  • Lead editorial process, including story-mining, intake and "gatekeeping" to ensure continuity in voice, tone, timing and content across channels.
  • Own and manage the editorial calendar, which will serve as a storytelling map for capturing critical events, meetings and moments and determining their impact on communications cadence and content.
  • Report and write audience-centric stories for key communications channels and provide a critical editing eye for partner content.
  • Drive operational excellence, ensuring communications are consistently delivered on time using the most effective tools and technology and reflecting the voice of each channel.
  • Serve as a trusted communication advisor to key Service Center leaders and partners, learning their business and collaborating on communications needs, content development, review and approval.
  • Continuously assess program effectiveness and innovate around opportunities for enhancement and improvement.
