JOB PURPOSE:

Our Product Marketing Manager – Landscape Contractor Equipment (LCE) - emphasis in Power Systems - is responsible for Toro’s professional product platforms for the North American market focused on driving category expansion opportunities across the Residential Landscape Contractor division. Manage customer-focused riding and walk-behind product portfolios with an emphasis on electric, smart connected and IoT products, built from strategic market intelligence, to achieve and exceed divisional growth, market share and profitability goals.


The candidate will have an incredible passion to understand the PRO customer and excel in product management to deliver differentiated value propositions focused on improving customer livelihood. This candidate must be highly collaborative, working to gain alignment and buy in across multiple stakeholders. This position fosters collaborative relationships with leaders in Marketing, Sales, Engineering, IT to implement a customer value focused platform roadmap while simultaneously managing her/his own product categories.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and execute new product launches and business development opportunities in the professional markets for technology focused riding and walk-behind products using Toro’s 6-stage gate review process

  • Initiate in-field market and/or customer research activities to measure Toro market share, customer requirements and market needs, and test new IoT product and service concepts.

  • Direct retail sales promotional strategy through price models, regional analysis and competitive marketplace intelligence

  • Collaborate with aftermarket parts personnel to develop holistic parts and accessories growth plans

  • Partner with customer care team to create product and sales training courses for new and current products

  • Spearhead strategic professional brand development via customer profile focus

  • Establish and maintain relationships with professional customers and territory sales field personnel

  • Develop and execute annual business category plans achieving financial, sales, share, inventory, warranty and other agreed upon measurement targets

  • Effectively present recommended objectives, strategies, action plans, and business policies to the division management team

  • Track market reaction, acceptance, and effectiveness of marketing programs and policies

  • Prepare marketing collateral as it relates to promotions, advertising, public relations and trade shows

  • Other tasks and assignments as requested

Job Dimensions:

  • Full P&L responsibility for assigned product categories

  • Lead cross-functional teams for product launch and management efforts

  • Domestic and Canadian focus to include collaboration with international and commercial marketing teams

  • Broad retailer interaction to include outdoor power equipment dealers, distributors, mass retailers and online partners

  • Partnership with other professional and residential product categories for successful product launches and sales channel execution

Leadership

  • Work closely with the residential zero turn and portable power product managers as well as a highly cross-functional marketing team to deliver project outcomes & business objectives

  • Manage product sample acquisition, inventory and disposition, VOC needs and schedules, as well as assist brand manager with agency/partner relationships, on product and in store messaging, project schedules, and project budgets



REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing related field with 4 plus years of product related-experience;

  • OR MBA degree and 3 plus years of related experience

  • Experience managing a significant product category with full P&L responsibility

  • Demonstrated success in go-to-market commercialization with experience managing significant launch efforts of new products. Preference given to candidates with consumer products experience

  • Experience working with multi-channel distribution including dealer direct, distributor, and mass retail outlets

  • Strong analytical skills with superior interpersonal, communication and leadership skills

  • Proven team player, fully supportive of division and company objectives and culture

  • Travel required ~20%, for customer research and industry / customer events
