A role in Property Management means the opportunity to maximize the performance and longevity of Target's assets while delivering value, reliability and brand integrity. Leverage and stretch your skills, whether your focus is electrical and plumbing, fire and security, smart buildings, HVAC and refrigeration, waste management and recycling, donations programs, or energy utility expense management. The Sr. Manager, Smart Buildings, will be leading a high-performing, diverse, and engaged team responsible for technical operations of Target building automation and energy information systems for stores. This role will manage the deployment of new smart building controls and sensors. Provides oversight, guidance and is responsible for the team delivering capital and expense budget, forecast, long range planning, and financial support for controls related projects. Leads the development of equipment operating standards and governance strategies to baseline expected equipment operation. Owns issue management escalation strategies and corrective workflows to improve equipment performance, asset health, and reduce waste. Designs and deploys equipment change management strategies to drive productivity in execution. Develops value and impact reporting to inform and evolve technical operations strategies. Facilitates strong vendor management routines with controls hardware and software providers.

Sr. Manager position is an active collaborator, advocate for the team, and systems thinker, working with other leaders across Property Management, Target Properties, and other pyramids including: Operations Center of Excellence, Finance, Store Operations, Engineering, Assets Protection and Supply Chain. Additionally, this role builds key external relationships with building controls and energy information system providers.

About You:
  • Bachelors Degree, BA/BS
  • Minimum 7 years business experience with a preference for building controls systems experience
  • Experience with leading and coaching others
  • Cross-functional team leadership experience
  • Ability to manage projects, set timeliness and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical, financial, reasoning, systems thinking, and organizational skills
  • Effectiveness developing strong relationships with inter-company teams and senior management
  • Ability to manage tough situations in the moment and leverage partnerships manage risk
  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills
  • Ability to maximize relationships - team player/inspires others/takes partners across all levels of the organization and with outside vendors
  • Practical approach to problem solving - ability to identify the need for change and lead through it
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
