A role on the Middle Mile team in Global Transportation and Logistics means applying your specialized and well-informed point of view to manage our strategic and tactical initiatives in the Middle Mile. You'll use the right combination of data and operational expertise to engage with our internal and external partners to drive them to a level of precision and focus on performance well beyond the norm. You will help scope a broad set of initiatives and ideas to help identify the specific problem scope, potential impact and the resources needed to solve. You'll also be actively engaged in developing solutions alongside experts from across the organization including Field Operations, Safety, Engineering and Facilities, Store Operations, Network Planning, Construction, Properties, First Mile Transportation, Last Mile Transportation, IRL, Food and Beverage, Inventory Management and Data Sciences.

As the Senior Manager Logistics-Middle Mile, you are responsible for leading a portion of the middle mile transportation operations team. Middle Mile transportation operations is responsible for managing the movement of inventory between and within Target nodes, (RDC to Store, DC to DC), through collaboration across pyramids, consistent execution of standardized processes, and carrier performance management to drive optimal execution and on time performance for our Target teams and Guests.

You will lead and develop strategies, business value cases for enhancements, and provide recommended fundamental changes to various transportation-related processes, protocols, and network configuration, ensuring alignment across all key stake holders. . You will need to delegate and influence across a diverse set of support and stakeholder groups, as well as your team, ensuring a common understanding of goals and objectives, and identifying and monitoring tasks to ensure timetables are met and resources are coordinated properly. You will work with Sr. Leaders and your sr. program managers to define business problems, provide strategic and thought leadership, and gain enterprise support on proposed solutions and their activation. You and your team will need to proactively identify risks and dependencies and drive resolution, as well as provide inputs to other GTL functions, such as process definition, metrics development, and analytics. This includes leading your team to create and execute the strategies set forth for Middle Mile Operations. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Create new processes and metrics for tracking success within the Middle Mile transportation space
  • Forge effective partnerships between transportation operational teams and key stake holders
  • Serves as escalation point and stakeholder for middle mile operations
  • Leading projects as assigned and delegating responsibility to others within the team for contribution to the projects
  • Provide clear communication and direction to team, cross functional teams and key partners to connect to shared vision, strategy and values
  • Lead team through data-driven analysis and continuous improvement projects within Middle Mile Transportation
  • Drive continuous improvement opportunities within the Middle Mile tying back to our global supply chain vision
  • Use data, reporting, and collaboration to develop short and long-term process improvements to enhance Target's Middle Mile Transportation Yard Operations.
  • Building trust with key stakeholders so that where there are conflicting priorities or other issues you can ensure that all involved understand the issues and can reach smart outcomes.
  • Monitoring and reviewing performance of implemented solution vs expectations within operational team


About You:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, supply chain related degree or MBA preferred
  • Proven expertise in performance management
  • Strong organization skills in creating project plans and milestones for self and others.
  • Demonstrated structured problem solving experience and experience leading through ambiguous situations and influencing without authority across diverse stakeholders
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills that can be tailored to different audiences and environments.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly in difficult situations.
  • Ability to think in terms of the future state, challenging the status quo, and identifying paths to operationalize new solutions from current to future state
  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate with multiple business partners and Sr. leaders (internal and external)
  • Highly flexible and comfortable working in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple parallel efforts within a complex, highly matrixed organization


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $81,300 to $146,400.
