As a member of the Merchandising Capabilities team, you will enable and drive critical business operations to deliver day-to-day results, while continually building and advancing capabilities for the future.

The Assortment Planning team is focused on creating a competitive advantage for Target by making it easier to create assortments that are the most relevant to our Guests and deliver our financial and operational goals. The Merchandise Operations team is standing up a new team to enable the continuous improvement of the assortment planning capability. This team will focus on creating and maintaining consistent processes and roles related to assortment change moments.

About the Job:
As an Operations Lead for the Assortment Planning capability, you are accountable for determining when, where, and how solutions are implemented to enable businesses to more effectively achieve their business outcomes. Your core responsibilities include:
  • Develop & manage Capability Implementation Plans based off visibility to buyership-level T&As and solution specific adoption strategies
  • Drives implementation strategy through change management activities including communication and leading/coordinating trainings with functional operations and roundtable teams
  • End to End expert (Processes and R&Rs) on the assortment planning process for the key business type(s)
  • Proactively connect related solutions so that they are implemented seamlessly into the assortment planning process
  • Serves as the point of contact for other Merchandise Strategic Priorities to determine how/if they are integrated into current or future workstreams
  • Responsible for informing and facilitating capability planning routines (Capability Roadmap) to ensure solutions are being developed to unlock the most value for the enterprise
  • Lead cross capability projects to ensure consistent process and functional responsibilities between assortment planning on non-assortment planning activities

About you:
  • 4-year college degree (or equivalent experience)
  • 6+ years of Merchandising experience (Familiarity with Owned Brand functions & processes preferred)
  • Strong ability to self-organize and lead through ambiguity
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in easy-to-understand terminology
  • Ability influence senior leaders to common ground, push for consistency where possible and navigate competing interests
  • Ability to clearly communicate business processes and outcomes to product teams
  • Experience with ability to facilitate communication between business and technology teams
  • Experience working in an agile environment (e.g. user stories, iterative development, etc.)
