Job Overview:

A role with Target Packaging is an opportunity to support the development of packaging for Target's beloved owned brands, exclusive partnerships and transit packaging. Your influence will drive sales and grow brand love through packaging that's guest-centric, on brand, competitive "at shelf" and category relevant. Here, you'll leverage internal and external partnerships to support packaging planning, project management, print development, copy and structural development to achieve market differentiation. As part of a global team spanning the U.S., China and India, you'll have partners at sourcing offices overseas, as well as international vendors and suppliers. You will review specifications, communicate directly with vendors and suppliers, conduct testing and provide results.

As Technician, you will:
  • Work under the direction of the Senior Packaging Manager to support the Engineering and Print team deliverables.
  • Ensure documentation and specs are complete and on time.
  • Work with vendors to ensure accuracy of die lines and that they are approved.
  • Execute technical testing as needed and report those results to the engineer.
  • Order and manage all packaging samples and prototypes.
  • Assign packaging structures to specific items under the guidance of Packaging Engineer.
  • Attend approval meetings and evaluate samples based on specs.
  • Verify all specifications are complete and accurate. Input into proper systems.
  • Maintain and restock packaging lab.
  • Understand and utilize the technology related to Packaging workflow.


Job Requirements:
  • Two or four year technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience with packaging or consumer goods manufacturing preferred
  • Mechanical knowledge a plus
  • System/process experience: ISTA and ASTM procedures and protocols
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work, contribute and lead in a team environment
  • Limited Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Ability to work and communicate in a highly collaborative environment
