The Mathematical Sciences Department at St. Catherine University invite applications for Adjunct Lecturer positions for the 2022-2023 academic year beginning mid-August, 2022.

St. Kate's Mathematical Sciences Department offers students a broad background in theoretical mathematics, applied statistics and computer science in an environment that deeply values personal interaction and collaborative research. Our math and statistics faculty are dedicated to helping all students succeed — from the nursing major taking statistics, the chemistry major taking calculus, the humanities major taking math for the liberal arts to the math major preparing for graduate school. Our work is to bring the joy and beauty of mathematics to all Katies.

Adjunct opportunities include:
  • Teach graduate level statistics courses online which are eight weeks long
  • Teach undergraduate math and statistics courses in a traditional classroom setting
  • Teach a computer sciences course in a traditional classroom setting

Responsibilities:
  • Teach one or two classes on a semester basis in traditional or online environments.
  • Educate and support students in their classroom.
  • Communicate respectfully and build relationships of trust with people of all cultures and abilities.
  • Foster a culture of inclusive excellence through authentic relationships with students as an educator, and a mentor.
  • Monitor and assess student-learning outcomes and provide timely and frequent feedback to students on academic performance.
  • Monitor curriculum content and make recommendations as appropriate to maintain relevance.
  • Consistent with the university's Catholic identity, its commitment to women, diversity, inclusion, social justice, and dedication to a liberal arts-based curriculum, faculty are expected to manifest these themes in their teaching and practice experiences.

St. Catherine University in St. Paul/Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a comprehensive Catholic university and home to one of the nation's largest colleges for women, with associate and graduate programs for all genders. Committed to excellence and opportunity, St. Catherine enrolls students in certificate, associate, baccalaureate, master's and doctoral programs in traditional day and evening/weekend/online formats.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in mathematics or statistics or relevant field. To teach at the graduate level, a doctoral degree in same subject areas is required. Note that enrollment in a doctoral program with master's level equivalency meets the qualifications to teach at the undergraduate level.
  • Must be interested in teaching in a traditional classroom setting or in an online setting

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral level degree in mathematics or statistics or relevant field
  • Experience teaching in a college or university setting
  • Experience teaching and mentoring of all different backgrounds and cultures
