A role with the Design team means an ample opportunity to start from scratch and create something truly original. Are you a design expert who can support your business by staying one step ahead of industry trends, new materials and techniques? Can you demonstrate the utmost attention to detail and create unprecedented products in the marketplace for their design and quality for the price? Then you'll succeed on our Design team that owns the design and development of all Target-owned brands, from apparel to home goods and beauty to essentials. In close partnership with our merchant and sourcing counterparts, you'll drive brand cohesion and continuity, ensuring that our products meet our own brand values, merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction.

As a Sr Furniture Designer, Seating and Dining, you'll be accountable for and lead brand vision across Target's portfolio of owned brands, Room Essentials, Threshold, Project 62, Opalhouse, Hearth & Hand with Magnolia, and our partnership with Studio McGee. Product types include dining chairs, tables, accent seating, sofas, and ottomans. You will develop the product with direction from design leaders to achieve overall product design strategy and merchant objectives. You will design lines for a category, brand, business or guest segment utilizing your proficiency/expertise in product design and development. Additionally, you will be accountable for and lead the PD&D Design and Development Processes, which include:

• Design vision for dining chairs, tables, accent seating, sofas, and ottomans.

• Drive and lead product research and design.

• Being an industry expert; able to forecast category, brand, business or guest segment trends.

• Travel to factories for the development and execution of programs.

• Mentor Associate Designers and Designers and enables collaboration among the larger team.

• You will be expected to drive and lead; Concepts, select materials, colors, fabrics, and prints.

• Build brand cohesion; partner with peers across the division to ensure continuity.

• Product designs to support merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction.

• Diligent approach to workload, maintaining good, timely communication with internal and external partners

• Collaboration with technical designers and sourcing partners to identify, troubleshoot and resolve product issues.

• This role will need to be curious about sustainability and lead new initiatives for the category.

About you:

• Four-year degree in Design, Fine Art, or similar area, or equivalent experience

• Minimum 10+ years of experience

• 5+ years of furniture experience

• Computer design system skills, including Illustrator and Photoshop, 3D is a plus

• Advanced understanding of furniture, fabrics, raw materials & product production

• Commercial sense, market knowledge, ability to research and apply market/trend information

• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Ability to successfully work in a team environment

• Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and cost-effective design solutions

• Knowledge of product development processes

This position may be eligible to be virtual based (also known as full-time remote) or could be 'Flex for your Day', a hybrid model where the team member has some flexibility to choose how and where they work to maximize their productivity and well-being, based on Target's needs. Most of Target's HQ team members work 'Flex for Your Day' with a blend of virtual work and onsite at a Target HQ location. Team members work with their leader to determine how the role, team, partners and business determines the flexibility. For team members who work virtual based, they enter into a work arrangement that means the team member works full-time from home or a non-Target location, and do not have a workstation at their assigned HQ location, but may travel to a HQ site up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $85,400.00 to $153,700.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Target cares about and invests in you as a team member, so that you can take care of yourself and your family.
